Yes, the US administrations asked them not to be involved,
but IMO Israel sits on the sidelines at our expense.
Without the US military's back, Israel would have to work harder to get along
with THEIR neighbors. Something I believe they should have done a long
time ago.
Really, they should forget about world opinion and just bulldoze the place and get it over with.
World opinion really doesn't matter much anymore. Just look at C-D, most of the anti-Israel posters have stopped posting negative Israel related comments over the past two years (they are all still active as current comments within C-D are still happening). If anything, the Arab Spring showed most of them what is reality and what is fantasy. Iran has cut them off. Hezbollah has cut them off. Egypt has cut them off. Most Arab countries support them verbally only and the only friend they have left is Qatar who still gives them free stuff. Take away the Arab support in the UN and being a Kurd will be seen as a step up.
The Palestinian people are stuck until they can get away from Hamas and Fatah leadership. Most of the people just want to live their lives, but their voted in leadership promises one thing during elections and does the opposite after them. Even if they have another election, the same groups are running so there's little chance for a change in their future.

The American Government decided to invade Iraq for America's own agenda (i.e. oil, etc.). Americans getting killed in Iraq has absolutely nothing to do with Israel.
Iraq declared war on Israel in 1948 when Israel was established as did all the Arab countries around Israel. It is Iraq that is at war with Israel which is quite different from how you are presenting the situation.

Iraq is still a threat to Israel even with its new leadership and backing from the US.

The Germans had Jews wearing Yellow Stars of David before Israel ever existed as a country. The Star of David is on the Israeli flag and no one in the 21st century is going to associate it with anything else but Jews.

Seriously. Who knows why anyone would ever want to live in that Hell on Earth region otherwise known as The Middle East, but there is no reason for the US to have any involvement. They can bomb eachother into oblivion for all I care.
It is well known that our country was founded as a bastion of religious freedom. Bring the civilized Jews and Muslims here and be done with it.
