The Left praises government when they use heavy handed tactics against their political enemies. They will also screech the loudest when the tables get turned.
lol. The tables will not get turned. You will see in 2016 when Obama is elected to his third term.
The IRS investigates - targets - groups of all sorts. And whomever is associated with the groups or is supportive of the groups - no matter the political leaning or activities - complains about the investigations. It's nothing new. The IRS uses profiling just as other enforcement groups do.
The IRS was deliberately set up to act as a blunt instrument of the (presently elected and/or self proclaimed) ruling class. Don’t think for a moment that every administration in power for decades, either Demo or Repub, has not used the IRS and various other real and quasi governmental agencies to serve their own purposes.
IRS Apologizes For Inappropriately Targeting Conservative Political Groups In 2012 Election
IRS apologizes? I never thought I'd see the day that happened!
They targeted tea partiers.
Never, ever put your name on a list. Apology NOT accepted.
In some cases, groups were asked for their list of donors, which violates IRS policy in most cases, she said. "That was wrong. That was absolutely incorrect, it was insensitive and it was inappropriate. That's not how we go about selecting cases for further review," Lerner said at a conference sponsored by the American Bar Association. "The IRS would like to apologize for that," she added.
After her talk, she told The AP that no high level IRS officials knew about the practice.
Sounds like a Jay Carney excuse. The current administration is corrupt and dysfunctional, from the top to the bottom. The left hand doesn't have a clue what the right hand is doing.
Fire all of them and then replace about .05% of them. That sounds about right.
“While I’m glad to see the IRS apologize for unfairly targeting conservative groups, this frankly isn’t enough,” said Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah, the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee. “We need to have ironclad guarantees from the IRS that it will adopt significant protocols to ensure this kind of harassment of groups that have a constitutional right to express their own views never happens again.”
Wrong response.
We need names... we need someone to be fired. Talking, dialogue, agreements,... equal no accountability for wrongdoing.
Organizations were singled out because they included the words "tea party" or "patriot" in their applications for tax-exempt status, said Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS division that oversees tax-exempt groups.
In some cases, groups were asked for their list of donors, which violates IRS policy in most cases, she said.

Agency officials found out about the practice last year and moved to correct it, the IRS said in a statement. The statement did not specify when officials found out.

IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman told Congress in March 2012 that the IRS was not targeting groups based on their political views.
"There's absolutely no targeting. This is the kind of back and forth that happens to people" who apply for tax-exempt status, Shulman told a House Ways and Means subcommittee.
Shulman was appointed by President George W. Bush. His 6-year term ended in November.
Shulman - did he lie before Congress? He needs to make a second appearance on this.
