What if the "thing" (as you so disgustingly call her) is hormonally female, has breasts, dresses and presents herself as a female, but also has a penis (another poster pointed out that before having sex-reassignment surgery, one must live for 1 year as the other sex)?
It seems to me such a "thing" should be using the women's bathroom. Using the men's room seems more inappropriate to me.
If the person in question has a penis, he should use the men's restroom, regardless of how he feels.
