A 1998 study in Pediatric Emergency Care evaluated air gun injuries over a 7 year period at one hospital. Forty-two children were injured and although there were no fatalities ten of the injuries were potentially lethal, of which seven were due to the "pump" action air gun. Sixteen patients had serious long-term disability as a result of their injuries.

The study concluded that "Both parents and physicians should be aware that nonpowder guns are not toys, but weapons capable of inflicting serious trauma."

To the parents: Adult supervision means just that.
To the DA: You are a moron!

The parents had a dangerous lapse of judgement. To charge a seven-year-old seems a misguided abuse of power. Instead, reprimanding or fining the parents makes more sense.

One size does not fit all.

My daughter got my .410 Savage pump, when she was 5. The same shotgun I got when I was 5.
At 10, she got her first deer hunting rifle. A 223 semi-auto, (wood stock, not the black scary stock)
Now at 15, she has a 38 special.

I trust my daughter to know firearm safety, better than most cops in this town.
Parenting goes a long way in a childs education.
Depends, are you and this mom raising the kid, or am I.....

Can you quote the post where she said they should be banned? I seem to have missed it.

Thanks.

I asked ellemint to explain what their position was and what their solutions were but there was no reply. You get this all the time when people react out of emotion as opposed to actually critically thinking through a position.

When you are completely unable to state your position, why it is and what you believe should be done, you have no position worthy of consideration.

What position? I'm responding to the topic of this thread, which is about BB guns.

I understand. You just want to rant. Rant at what you do not even know, you just know that you must rant.

Irresponsible parents. A 7 year old unattended w/ a BB gun is their fault. Kids that age should not have a BB gun.
