Obama’s two job-creating ideas are extended unemployment benefits and infrastructure spending. As Obama pushes for new green energy spending (remember all the failed companies like Solyndra) lawmakers on both sides push bills to approve Keystone pipeline that will create jobs also decreasing our dependence on foreign oil.
Union leader was interviewed Barnett astutely noted, rest assured, the President understands that it will create jobs. He just doesn’t care.
Remember, Obama was outspokenly willing to torpedo his own sacred “payroll tax cut” – which he claims is integral to job creation, and is in fact one of the only three ideas he has ever advanced for enhanced job creation – just to stop this pipeline project.
Quite frankly, the American people are tired of Washington D.C. politics going on, and their jobs are waiting in line for these decisions,” said Barnett
My guess is that he'll use it as yet another bargaining chip.
But I have no guess as to whether he'll actually sign it. He's said he doesn't think it'll hurt the environment - much. But he also thinks it'll only create 5-6,000 temporary jobs. He's playing down the impact of whatever he does.
And I'd guess that's so he can use it for negotiations with the House -- probably to increase the budget.
It won't generate very many jobs. And it does have the potential to destroy the environment.
But if it were built whatever oil flows thru the pipelines will be sold to the highest bidder. Likely none of the oil will be used in the US. Really, it is just another way to export oil to other countries.
Both democratic and republicans are pushing for it. Union leaders are pushing for it because people need jobs. You don't want the jobs then don't complain about it. Don't worry, either Harry Reid or Obama will stop it and we will fund another failed green energy investment.
A little over a year ago, NBC concluded an extensive report/investigation on the pros and cons of the Keystone Pipeline, and, if I read it correctly, debunked most if not all of what the promoters of the pipeline have said about its benefits. It's a project which primarily helps foreign governments as I see it. Relatively little upside for the USA, while we have a big potential downside if there are infrastructure proplems. I wouldn't say I'm opposed to it, but I believe the President has prudently taken his time to allow the various government agencies to gather what's needed to make an informed decision.
Yet another thread were these poor, white, middle aged to elderly males are fed some scary story about Obama and how he's just responsible for everything that has gone wrong in their lives.....LOL
The pipeline is just sooooo vital to everything and soooo many jobs will be lost......lol
Boy, just throw anything out there and these lemmings will just eat it up....So eager to blame anybody but themselves and rich elites they worship for their failures in life.
Nope - Alberta can export its oil without piping it all the way to Texas.
Next question.
