Buffet's already adding to his billions by rail tanking the stuff to those upgraders in Texas after which it goes onto the world market, thereby keeping the WORLD (that planet you live on) costs down.

No pipeline just means he gets even richer. I like him, so goody!

Canada should get smart and realize that; untold thousands of miles of forgotten ancient pipes under your states doesn't seem to bother you but this one will be the disaster; as a clear signal to remember our place.

I believe the time has never been better for us to take appropriate action to build gov't owned upgraders either on the oil sands themselves or on the shore of the St Lawrence somewhere like Labrador and sell the stuff on the world market without involving the U.S.

I think this solution would make everyone happier and our government far richer.

Yup, yet another ignorant thread from the wingnuts.

"U.S. oil production grew more in 2012 than in any year in the history of the domestic industry, which began in 1859, and is set to surge even more in 2013.

Daily crude output averaged 6.4 million barrels a day last year, up a record 779,000 barrels a day from 2011 and hitting a 15-year high, according to the American Petroleum Institute, a trade group.

It is the biggest annual jump in production since Edwin Drake drilled the first commercial oil well in Titusville, Pa., two years before the Civil War began.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration predicts 2013 will be an even bigger year, with average daily production expected to jump by 900,000 barrels a day.

Private land, he blocks the other land. EPA is also trying to put a stop to private land drilling.

More ignorant nonsense and half-truths. First of all, despite the fact that the number of permits for government lands has been cut - largely because of concerns brought up by the huge gulf oil spill of a few years back - the actual production of oil from government land is UP

...Despite the one-year drop in production, oil production on federal and Indian lands from 2009 through 2011 totaled 2.027 million barrels. That's an average of 675,000 barrels per year during Obama's term, compared to an average annual production of 609,000 barrels annually during Bush's last term....

Fact check: Oil and natural gas production under Obama - CNN.com

Secondly, even exploration on PRIVATE LANDS has to be approved. If Obama wanted to block oil exploration and drilling he could DO SO - EVEN ON PRIVATE LANDS - and yet that hasn't happened has it? The claim that Obama is trying to prevent oil exploration and drilling is utter nonsense considering the fact that US oil production is BOOMING. What a stoooopid claim.

The fact is, the number of drilling permits issued for Federal land last year was at a VERY HIGH LEVEL -higher than 16 of the last 25 years - and that's true every year of the Obama administration - more permits issued than in roughly half of the 2nd Bush years, more than those issued during ANY of the Clinton years and more than those issued during ANY of the first Bush years (roughly TWICE as many actually).

Actually you are the loser because you voted for a politician who promised to take from some citizens to give it to others. Demagogues and would-be tyrants aggrandized power explicitly by promising the masses that they would take from the “rich” and give to the poor.

They typically preyed on the class envy and resentment of the latter.

So you say Obama increased oil production but now he is ranting about the electric car again and he is going to kill it at the same time. Did you know that 2 + 2 = 4?

Obama can authorize the pipeline but lets see if he continues to stop it.

And you are as right about all that as you are right about him wanting to decrease oil production - in other words not right at all. How can you expect ANYONE to take you seriously when you are so off-base all the time?

Yep, lets get that price up so the people cry and demand for an alternative source of energy. Too bad Electric car battery maker A123 Systems is bankrupt. In a recent Associated Press release the Obama administration defended criticism of the stimulus “economic recovery program” by touting the jobs created under the $2.4 billion “advanced battery” program

How about that $100,000+ Fisker Karma car that keeps catching fire. Yep, a car that the American people can afford that catches fire lol. What a joke.

Here is a pic of one of the Fisker Karma cars.. It burned the whole damn house. the owner of a Fisker Karma drove his car into his garage shortly before it burst into flames.

Another car was less than two months old and was manufactured after the previous recall.

In 2010, the Department of Energy awarded Fisker a $529 million green-energy loan, assembled in Finland (no jobs for Americans), into the American markets. Fisker collected nearly $200 million until February this 2012.

Another day, yet another example of what happens when the government tries to “create” green energy and "create" jobs based on its own ideological-political ambitions.

And yet another Fiskar Karma car
