You simply cannot win. The more you talk, the more guns are sold. The more you talk, the more you embolden the gun lobby to press harder. The more you talk, the more likely you are to cause dysfunction and disunion in this country. The more you talk, the more you embolden the far left, and people like Obama, to push for more regulations. Pushing for more regulations would be absolute political suicide for the left over the long-run.

You can't win liberals, but keep pushing. You will sow the seeds of your own destruction. Or even the destruction of this nation.

I hate to break it to YOU, but a majority of the entire U.S. population now disagrees with you. Get a clue.

Yeah, for this week.

The long term trend is undeniable.

What are the stats pre Newtown and post Newtown? There's a difference between genuine want for gun control and knee-jerkism, which this country suffers severely from due to a population that is more right-brained than left

It's a shame when a gun fondler can't recognize the straw that broke the camel's back when he sees it. More gun restrictions are unavoidable now. Contrary to the OP, it's going to be political suicide for the conservative right to vote "no" on restrictions in light of this recent tragedy. Common sense reform must be taken and everybody sees it except for the wingnuts on this message board.

Trust me, you need to wake up to reality. If you want another Civil War, or threats of secession. Keep pushing for tighter gun control laws.

The more we talk about guns, the more people will be buying them. Especially high-capacity magazines.

The difference in opinion in this poll is nearly 50-50. If its a CNN poll, its going to be incredibly biased, as CNN poll always are. Just like Foxnews polls always are.

But even if the poll was accurate right now. You have to understand that there is going to be a support for gun control bubble after a tragedy like this, that will last for a short period of time. A month from today, people are going to feel less strongly about this incident, and will go back to their previous views on the issue.

The truth is, the gun question is pitting half of this country against the other half. The democrats have been very cautious in speaking in support of gun control historically, because they know it is an issue they can't win on in the United States.

Did you not notice that guns are being sold at near record rates right now?

Look, I'm not saying I want more guns, but you cannot win. And if you keep pressing the issue, you are eventually going to destroy this country. If that is what you want, keep pushing, I don't care.

The straw that broke the camels back?

Have you paid any attention to public opinion on gun control over the last 20 years?

Again, give it a couple years. At best, you'll wind up back where you started. Then the trend continues.

How can it be "knee-jerk" when these shootings happen over and over, practically every month (if not every week)? I think we've all had MORE than enough time to figure out how we feel about gun restrictions and what needs to be done.

Yes, the trend continues... the trend for more and more gun restrictions. Have you not been paying attention to the increasing number of restrictions placed on guns over the last several decades? The noose is getting tighter... can you feel it?
