Source: Obama to tap Kerry to be next secretary of state - CNN.com

"President Obama has decided to nominate Sen. John Kerry to be the next secretary of state and could make a formal announcement as early as next week, a Democrat who spoke to Kerry told CNN Saturday. The expected nomination follows U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice's decision to withdraw her name from consideration for the post."

Gosh, who could have seen that coming?

I do find it interesting that a nominee is taking the fall as a pawn in a political game, only to be replaced by a confessed murderer/war criminal whose nomination will sail right through.

Excellent. John Kerry is a much better choice than Susan Rice in every way. I will be proud to see him represent our country.

I love people like John Kerry who are always telling people the wealthy need to pay their fair share...

YET.....

they dock their yachts in neighboring states so they can evade taxes!

What a perfect pick

Oh yeah. That has a lot to do with being Secretary Of State.

Surely you can come up with a better argument - or can you?

Yes, I think so. Kerry has the gravitas, he has the experience, and he has his dad's notes. He will do fine in the post, which after all is not much more than a patronage ambassadorship writ large. If Dan Rooney can adequately represent the interests of the United States in Dublin, then John Kerry can do the same on a wider stage.

I'm sure he'll be happy to - while his haters continue to vent on anonymous internet forums. I'm sure he'd rather be him than them.

With considerable grace, he has dealt with much more villainous and vituperative hate than any of these forum pygmies can muster.
