I do find it interesting that a nominee is taking the fall as a pawn in a political game, only to be replaced by a confessed murderer/war criminal whose nomination will sail right through.
This is what the GOP wanted. They attacked and smeared Rice like a pack of hyenas, because they wanted the nomination to go to Kerry, because that will vacate his seat in the senate.

Smells like dealing has been done. Rice leaves and Kerry gives up his seat to move and boner man runs folks out of some committees the dems wanted gone. That is how the game is played.

I think GOP is getting what they wanted here, and they are also getting a Republican Sec of Defense. Kerry's seat might go to Scott Brown, - the liberal Republican porn star from Boston.
