the problem is, is that once passed, made permanent, stood up to the the scotus, the dems wont give a damn. they will have gotten their wishes fulfilled, and be damned the consequences.
Yeh but to risk ever having another Democrat president?
They'd be stupid.
lets start charging public officials $200 for every word of legislation they propose. would make more money.
how about charging the people $25 to vote. dont think the people cant afford that?
Voting should be free, guns not really, legal yes, free no, you disagree.
Chicago just passed a $25 per unit additional tax on guns and another $1 per pack on cigs. They will start to treat them similar and start taxing the crap out of firearms.
They will just put a high enough tax to where the average Joe cannot afford to buy.
Sadly they voters there as well as NY and CA haven't got the wake up call yet....
I dont think the Democrats are politically suicidal with gun control at this point so from a federal standpoint, there shouldn't be too much of a push for control.
A tax like Chicago's on gun purchases doesn't really slow people down either because it's a one-time thing. The fear should be focused on the possibility of huge taxes on ammunition. If a $3 pack of cigarettes can have a $6 tax put on it; imagine what they could do with a $50 box of ammo.

Sin taxes are not designed to curb usage, they are designed to generate revenue. You guys are looking at this as a 2nd amendment issue in Chicago when it's really about money. They'd tax diapers more if they thought they'd get away with it.
Many of the people rushing to buy guns already own guns, so their response makes no sense. Gun fanatics are a strange brew
Do you think that only one firearm is enough?
They are tools - you need the right one for any given situation.
That means having more than one around.
