Just curious. I get labeled as a liberal a lot. I thought liberals didn't endorse the death penalty. I endorse it whole heartedly. Some people just need to die. (Child killers come to mind.) But I'm also for universal health care, and I'm anti-abortion. If a man told me what I could do with my penis or gonads ... I'd have a real problem with that. Why can't women get the same break as me? Oh, forgot, they are property/breeding cows. Moo.
I also don't give a crap what gay people do in their own time. I've been hit on by one of my gay friends. I didn't kill him. I found it to be a compliment. He said I have beautiful blue eyes. It was a good pass. I told him I liked chicks. He said he knew that. He was also, pretty drunk. I didn't beat him to a pulp. Can't change who you are, man. He ended up with a good guy for a boyfriend. They've been together for years now. Glad he's happy.
I'm for life imprisonment, over the death penalty though (in most cases). I'd rather they have a chance to come back in case our lousy judicial system (Then again, it ain't as lousy as others!) screwed up and convicted a man who was innocent. From what I know about the prison system, it's worse to be alive.
I'm a democratic socialist. I don't mind that 'label.' If you can find a right-winger who is not into Don Rickles or Louis 'I'm not funny at all' CK and you can have an intelligent conversation with, that is great, though rare. They go straight to insults since they don't have anything else in their clip. Like, you know, logic and reason.
Yep, I get accused of being a liberal all the time even though I'm Catholic and pro life-even though I don't feel I have the right to force others to believe as I do. I believe it's a moral issue and the woman has to make the decision and deal with the consequences in the afterlife (which I believe will be severe).
I have very little concern for gay issues. I guess I believe they should have the right to marry but I know that after they get that right the first damn thing they'll do is sue the Catholic Church for not allowing gay marriage or in the church. I think they will do whatever it takes to stay in the news and on camera.
I think Section 8 and Welfare should be abolished. There should be minimal safety nets for people who cannot support themselves for limited times. Government apartment buildings and food stores with all necessities should be available. People will need to submit to drug tests and prove they are caring for their children or those children will be promptly taken away from them. The care should be more about the children being in the proper environment and not some crack addict getting cash to feed their habit. If you look at what Section 8 and welfare has done to sections of my city,it looks like a bomb was dropped.
I'm a Democrat and always have been. I believe in standing up for the middle class and working class and for farmers. I believe in helping the poor to become independent. I definitely resent being called a liberal.
A lot of idiotic organizations and special interests have hitched their wagons to MY Democratic party in the last 30 years. I don't are about them, I'm an old school Democrat.
No, it doesn't bother me. Here on CD I've been labeled a liberal many times. IRL, many of my friends say I am a "token black republican" lol. I think both are pretty funny but labels never bother me. I'm comfortable with myself.
I am against the death penalty in all cases as I believe death is an easy punishment, I am for 23 hour lockdown for life and a limited number of appeals for those who get a life sentence but woudl like to see drastic reforms to our judicial system from police on up. I am for universal coverage and drastic education reform to include school choice and vouchers nationwide. I am staunchly for reform in social welfare programs and am for drastic cuts to specific agencies, included the DoD and military agencies. I consider myself fiscally conservative but socially liberal. I don't think that politicians should even discuss abortion or same sex marriage or other non-issues that they have no business legislating about.
