Why is there no "television for men"?

Also, why do many of Lifetime's movies seem to portray women as crime victims?

Isn't that a negative portrayal of women - and wouldn't it be better to broadcast programs that present women as strong, capable, and independent?
Spike is TV for men. Are they sexist? I don't know. They are defintely anti male though. Every movie they show is about a woman who is raped, stalked, murdered, beat up, beat down or deserted by a male.

That's not exactly true. They have theme weekends where all their show revolve around something like motherhood, murder, single motherhood, kidnapped babies, being stalked, weddings, marriages, love stories, rape, struggling to make it, evil women who kill, etc., etc. It's a stupid way to program but I suppose it's cheaper to just key in a 'tag' to pop out shows than to have a real person handpick a variety of movies for their weekend audience. Right this minute The Secret Lives of Bees is playing because it's a weekend of black women movies.

If people think so and want to do something about it, then why don't they produce and broadcast programming that competes with that perception - instead of creating an exclusive network?

It's Cable Television! And just because it says "television for women" doesn't mean you are precluded from watching the latest Tracy Gold bulemia overcoming flick. It's "television for women" because the topics and materials are stereotypically women's-interest.
I thought that stereotypes were bad.

Woman have historically been facinated by human drama. Before Lifetime it was soaps, and it almost always involved men manipuating women in some way. Why? Because that's life.
You have a very narrow way of looking at the world.

Life = manipulation of women?

Men's interests are limited to sports, porn, and acting badass?

Lifetime network is loaded with gender discrimination. Because their "boogie man" is overwhelmingly a middle-class white husband, I would say the network is not only sexist, but a hair racist.
