I wonder if any of the people who voted yes have changed their minds since yesterday.
Nope especially since an AK or "machine gun" wasn't used. You should look more into the root of the problem and it isn't guns and the 2nd amendment. It's hopping these kids on psychotropic drugs from a young age for everything, and the 24/7 news machine making them famous.
I think you should be able to have a tank in your driveway and a surface to air missile under your bed if you want to. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Anytime someone wants to see how much havoc can be caused without a gun simply look to the taliban, or al qaeada, and ask them how those bomb vests work.....
Yes, a gun is a weapon designed to kill. So are many other things, whether by design, or accident.
what would have happened had he smashed a vehicle through the front of the school and into a classroom full of kids? Or ran in with a couple of 5 gallon cans of gas and started pouring and lit a match?
It's easy to blame the gun, but what you SHOULD be looking at is society.

So is killing someone and stealing their property, didn't seem to stop our killer who didn't legally purchase his own gun, now did it?
BTW, when you quote someone City Data rules require quoting their whole post, I ask that you fix yours to include my ENTIRE post, not just the tidbit you wanted to whine about.

I agree, why should the goverment have all the good stuff. better to keep the goverment from becoming tyrannical like it is these days.
I look at it this way, if you can afford it and do the upkeep and maintinence, then why not be allowed to own it.
I keep an AK-47 locked and loaded. I think one day the turkeys are going to riot and attack us. If it happens, PETA be damned, I'm taking some of those fat birds down before they get me.
An AK-47 isn't a machine gun - so your thread fails right off the bat.
Furthermore - an M-60(which is a machine gun) is legal to own in the United States as is an AK-47(a semi-automatic rifle).
So - what is the point of the thread?
Actually, fully automatic AK-47's are not legal in the states, except for a very small loophole for gun imported before the mid 80's and a special provision that allows you to convert one from semi to fully automatic if you can prove you have a dire need for it (unlikely).
used to be you could by a full auto Thompson submachine gun in a hardware store, gangsters used them on each other with alarming frequency thanks to the government war on alcohol, but I cant recall any school shootings, mass murders of civilians or the like due to their availability.
things got restrictive when the paranoid federal gov got worried about the citizens having the same armament that it had.

Really?
200 years ago when it was citizen's muskets vs the federal muskets you had a point.
The 'good stuff' today encompasses Predator drones, Lacrosse or Keyhole class satellites, F-22 raptors...
So while plenty of folks (especially in Texas) own small arsenals- it's the sanity of the owner that's usually in question and not the gun they're holding.
