This is what it will take for California and other cities or states to stop the reckless spending. Hopefully our Feds will stay out of the way and let these people work out their own problems.

This would be the 3rd CA city to file in 2 weeks.
And in other news....CA is going to issue bonds (DEBT) to build a high speed rail.

Is it denial, delusion or what going on in CA ? Does Sacramento not keep tabs on its cities ?

These are the issues that MUST be addressed for us the people to be sound economically. People complain about us Texans refusing issues like Obamacare that will cost us money. You must balance your checkbook, income is limited for us all and spending should be only what our income allows.

There again, hopefully the states and Feds (and judges) stay out of the way and let these cities work out their issues.

The feds stay out?

Not going to happen. Bankruptcy like this makes the Fed look bad and, by extension, Obama look bad.

After all, isn't California supposed to be a big supporter of Obama? Can't let that type of supporter go their own way. The Fed knows best!

The rest of us, that live in states and areas that have managed their money like adults, need to make damn sure that our friendly DC politicians don't go sending OUR tax dollars off to bail out these mis-managed hellholes. Step up and manage the criminal alien problem and get municipal pay and benefits in line with private sector jobs and see how much of the problem goes away.

California has more uninsured people than Texas. We can't afford to provide everything to everyone who comes across our borders.

Well with people like Pelosi representing CA I wouldn't bet on the Fed keeping out of it.

Well, until a few years ago Texas was not much better than Ca. Nobody knew what illegal social services cost, because no county, school, city or any other agency inquired if folks were legal. I'm not sure they do now. There was some discussion the last session that somebody needs to be keeping score.
