HA! Gotta watch this one and hear/see Obama argue against himself!
"The central dispute over the law is a provision that requires individuals to have health insurance by 2014 or pay a penalty. American Crossroads, a 527 organization advised by Karl Rove, has released a new video showing that Barack Obama himself has not always supported the individual mandate at the center of his controversial health care reform plan..."
Too funny. You won't see any lefties chiming in here that's for sure unless it's to blame Bush. I blame the teleprompter. LOL
Perhaps you should read more. I've posted about the individual mandate and Obama's lack of support for it on multiple occasions (including just before venturing into this thread).
It's no secret that Obama was no fan of the individual mandate. Hell, it was one of the big distinctions between him and Clinton.
It's not really a flip flop to accept something you don't like in exchange for something you do. That's called compromise. Kind of like wanting a public option, but settling for everyone being able to buy private insurance.
Now, the real flip floppers would be the right, who came up with the idea of the individual mandate in the first place, then went about cheerleading for it, signed it into law, but now act like its the most un-American freedom-hating injustice ever.

For someone the left proudly parrots as a "Constitutional Scholar"....don't you think it's reasonable that the President shouldn't have chosen to "compromise" on a portion of the law that is likely to be ruled "unconsitutional?"
I believe you just called the President stupid without even knowing it.

These fools still refuse to change their position on Iraq, even now, 9 years later when its clear to everyone that it was an absolute, total debacle. Compromise, or even just admitting you were wrong, when EVERYONE can you see you were, is weakness in their minds.
I also think its funny that they try to cite things the Republican party did hundreds of years ago (regarding slavery) somehow stands for something now (despite the fact that the Republican party of today is nothing like the Republican party of Lincoln), but their party supporting a insurance mandate 20 years ago just doesn't matter...
I'll say though, even with my comments about compromise and changing your mind based on circumstances, there's no reason we shouldn't have a bill with a Public Option right now. There was not a thing stopping them from passing one through reconciliation, other than money from lobbyists...
