I'm, well, not surprised.

Neither of them find anything wrong with her acts of treason, and never have.

Whatever. She's not on the radar anymore unless she has something to sell. So I guess she's a good little capitalist after all.
I don't think she's ever said she hates money. She's was born into wealth. That's immaterial.

Doesn't matter that she took pics on an enemy gun. It wouldn't make a lick of difference anyway. And even if she was pro- North Vietnam, that means nothing either. What reason did she have to be "anti-Vietnam?" The North Vietnamese never did a damn thing to us to begin with. We had no business meddling in their affairs anyway. We saw the French take an ass whipping and thought we'd be immune. Well....we aren't. Too bad we found out the hard way.

Again, having a cause makes a difference. We had no cause, they did. Hence the results.

Just saying I have more respect for true pacifists. She wasn't a pacifist.

I know all the rest about causes. I lived through that era it as well.

The supporters of Hanoi Jane are all progressives and they would have been among the protesters back then. Most don't really know that we know that but it is the case. Even those who were vets of that thing probably voted for the biggest liar from the war, Jon Carry, and that gripes me.

You can't be a good Democrat if you don't know about the Truman Doctrine and what it was about. Truman was barely out of office when Eisenhower sent the first troops to Vietnam. He did that in support of the Doctrine and then Kennedy sent a high number of troops to fight while the others were supposed to be advisers to the South Vietnamese.

Gotta get to Beck so I will come back and tell you more about the Truman and Eisenhower Doctrines and how much sense they made back then.

Yep, let's praise her for getting on North Vietnamese radio telling American soldiers to surrender and give up, providing moral support to north Vietnamese troops instead of her birth nation's troops, and calling returning POWs liars when they reported the torture they endured at the hands of the very troops she supported. She turned her back on her country in order to support a brutal communist regime that committed torture and mass murder. Had she continued to protest the war from USA then it would not have been a big deal. But to travel to Vietnam to show support to the troops fighting our troops is treason in my personal view. Had she shown similiar support towards our American troops, the. Things would have balanced out. Instead, like most anti-war protestors back then (and like some today), they absolutely hate our nation's military unless they, the veteran, joins their cause.

Yes, life is too short.
No, she never apologized. She said she regrets posing for the photo but never apologized for supporting Vietnamese communist troops nor calling returning POWs liars for reporting the torture they endured. Try again.

It's probably generational more than anything else. I would doubt that very many people under age 50 or so even know who Jane Fonda is.

Did you see her on Oprah? She sat alone for an hour and just talked about her life. She said she made a mistake in VN and she had a meeting with vets to apologize, I'm not sure how that went but she said it was healing and all. She showed the pics of herself but she never addressed the passing notes to the enemy when she visited that prison. I don't know if that story was true but if it was she glossed over it.

They also had Ted Turner on later for an hour. He seemed to be a good guy until he took out his rules or something like that for all people to live by. One was "I promise to only have 2 children." Geesh, so he is going to tell people how many children they can have and no more.

I think they both may be self-righteous and self absorbed. They know how to live and others are just not clued in.
