If you believe in military solutions, it becomes much harder to differentiate the his policy from the US. That's the problem. If we were far more reluctant to use force, then perhaps the indignation against his methods would not seem so hollow. We supported many like him in Latin America, they just worked for us.
I think you paint with too brood of a brush. Most people who admire Che does not know the whole story behind him. Just like most people who admire Reagan, Lincoln or Alexander the Great doesn’t know the full history of these individuals.
When I talk of opposing views I’m referring to someone who can counter their argument of all negative aspects. They clearly have an agenda so having someone provide the counter weight to their argument would have been counterproductive.
Che will have to answer to god for the wrongs he committed in the name of revolution. Just like the Americans who wiped out whole villages in the name of fighting communism in Vietnam.

The real Guevara was a reckless bourgeois adrenaline-junkie seeking a place in history as a liberator of the oppressed. But this fanatic’s vehicle of “liberation” was Stalinism, named for Soviet dictator Josef Stalin, murderer of well over 20 million of his own people. As one of Castro’s top lieutenants, Che helped steer Cuba’s revolutionary regime in a radically repressive direction. Soon after overthrowing Batista, Guevara choreographed the executions of hundreds of Batista officials without any fair trials. He thought nothing of summarily executing even fellow guerrillas suspected of disloyalty and shot one himself with no due process.
Che was a purist political fanatic who saw everything in stark black and white. Therefore he vociferously opposed freedoms of religion, speech, press, assembly, protest, or any other rights not completely consistent with his North Korean-style communism. How many rock music-loving teens sporting Guevara t-shirts today know their hero supported Cuba’s 1960s’ repression of the genre? How many homosexual fans know he had gays jailed?
Did the Obama volunteers in that Texas campaign headquarters with Che’s poster on the wall know that Guevara fervently opposed any free elections? How “progressive” is that?
How socially just was it that Che was enraged when the Russians blinked during the 1962 Cuban missile crisis and withdrew their nuclear missiles from the island, thus averting a nuclear war? Guevara was such a zealous ideologue that he relished the specter of millions of Cuban lives sacrificed on the altar of communism, declaring Cuba “a people ready to sacrifice itself to nuclear arms, that its ashes might serve as a basis for new societies.” Some humanitarian.
Che was a narcissist who boasted that “I have no house, wife, children, parents, or brothers; my friends are friends as long as they think like me, politically.” This is a role model for today’s “post-political” voters claiming we should get beyond partisanship?
Anyone who admires Che admires chaos, hatred, racism, and murder. When you say, "opposing view" don't you mean "wacko spin"? I can't think of a single loon group, following this maniac, that wouldn't be wiped out by said maniac. Che wasn't worth the bullets that killed him, but I'm glad somebody didn't mind the investment.

Che was bush league in terms of killing people compared to someone like Pinochet... So how come the Glen Beck's of the world don't remind us of Pinochet incessantly and how it was US government policy that helped get that bastard into power(and similar to what we still do today to keep friendly dictators in power). Why worry so much about Che when no one cares much about him outside stoned college students?
Because it's inconvenient for fake patriots like Glenn Beck (and some of the loons on this forum) to admit that the US caused more death than long-dead, right-wing bogeymen like Guevara did, by installing puppet governments in S. America, SE Asia, the Mid-East, and so on...
We toppled legitimately elected leaders of foreign countries, all the while blathering about how "Democracy must prevail!" The irony is glaring and I find it incredible that so many people have decided to hide their heads in the sand with regard to these issues.
Disclaimer: I'm no Guevara fan, so before anybody accuses me of being a leftist, check your tongue. I'm simply pointing out the inability of some "patriots" to self-examine.
Here are a few quotes from the great revolutionary leader:
Quote:
“The U.S. is the great enemy of mankind!”
“The U.S. is ‘a carnivorous animal feeding on the helpless!”
“Against those hyenas there is no option but extermination!”
“We will bring the war to the imperialist enemies’ (Americans) very home, to his places of work and recreation. The imperialist enemy (Americans) must feel like a hunted animal wherever he moves. Thus we’ll destroy him!
“We must keep our hatred (against the U.S.) alive and fan it to paroxysm!”
“The U.S. is the perpetrator of exploitation and oppression against all the peoples of the world!”
“If the nuclear missiles had remained (in Cuba) we would have fired them against the heart of the U.S. including New York City. The victory of socialism is well worth millions of atomic victims."
But, damn if he doesn't look really cool on a shirt.
