Nope, when something is put in a "must pass" bill that guarantees a veto, (hint... Obama said he would veto anything with that proposed pipeline in it) especially in an election year, the party (GOP) that put it in can say..."See, Obama vetoed a bill that would lower your taxes, ergo, he is a tax and spend democrat."

See how that works??

Bingo. It has nothing to do with compromise, it has everything to do with how it will look when Obama vetoes it. He has already stated that if the pipeline is in the bill, he will not sign it.

Yes. It works just like this and the right agreed then:

Quote:
The House voted 218-212 to approve the $124 billion spending bill that includes the deadline.
...
"Congress needs to send me a clean bill that I can sign without delay," he said.

Two House Republicans -- Reps. Walter Jones of North Carolina and Wayne Gilchrest of Maryland -- voted in favor of the bill. Fourteen Democrats voted against it.

It will never get as far as President Obama, so that is that

The thought that federal employees don't contribute anything is brain-dead thinking.

Moreover, you don't seem to realize that although you have the vision that millionaires and billionaires are creative people like Steve Jobs, the richest ones in America are involved in finance and don't create anything and in 2008, nearly destroyed the world economy -- but were well-paid for doing it. The next tier are corporate executives who are lavishly rewarded, not because they're so talented but because their boards of directors are beholden to them and they scratch each other's backs.

Of course, this segways into the benefit of taxing millionaires and billionaires more. There is no empirical evidence that investment suffered when capital gains rates were much higher or higher taxes on ordinary income over a million reduces effort. None. Thus, cutting taxes on millionaires while raising them on the middle-class is Robin Hood in reverse.
I didn't say valuable, I said job creating and economy stimulating.

As for those federal employees, 90% of them should be gotten rid of. Most of what our massive federal government has gotten involved in should be shelved. It's none of DC's business how local states and municipalities run themselves. It's money laundering at its finest.

You mean fast tracking of the Canadian oil pipeline?

OMG!! Just imagine, an oil pipeline that would give us more independence from Mid East oil, create thousands of jobs for decades... all without 0bama spending taxpayer money. Creating jobs in America without gub'ment money.... that's unpossible!!!

That's your assumption but facts get in the way. Oil companies currently export U.S. oil to other countries. The reason why they do that is to find the best price.

Oil companies are not going to pump oil in the U.S. just to lower our prices while higher prices exist in Europe. They are going to transport it to wherever they can maximize profit.

There are also very good environment reasons against this pipeline.

Lol, so because Obama won't compromise, the middle class suffers. Well, you are right, there can't be compromise with someone who says right from the start they are unwilling to compromise. But the Republicans tried anyway.

Nopers, it will just give the oil companies more oil to export.

Why?? profit margin is higher.

We produce enough oil here now to meet our needs. The oil companies export a large amount of it because they can see a better profit margin from it.
