Well, there were some who did indeed thougth F&F was being used to justify more regulations, now we have confirmation of that.

Heads should roll for this.

Documents: ATF used "Fast and Furious" to make the case for gun regulations - CBS News Investigates - CBS News

Quote:
ATF officials didn't intend to publicly disclose their own role in letting Mexican cartels obtain the weapons, but emails show they discussed using the sales, including sales encouraged by ATF, to justify a new gun regulation called "Demand Letter 3".
Truly outrageous, criminal activity by obama's DOJ.

They have blood all over their hands for this operation.

People have died because of this.

Imagine, an administration bent on implementing radical gun control, resorts to selling thousands of guns on the QT to drug lords, just so they can then claim illegal guns are making their way into Mexico.

Quote:
Keane says it's "deeply troubling" if sales made by gun dealers "voluntarily cooperating with ATF's flawed 'Operation Fast & Furious' were going to be used by some individuals within ATF to justify imposing a multiple sales reporting requirement for rifles."

This must be what Obama meant when he said they were working on gun control 'under the radar'. Looks like it backfired.

Yeah, I'm thinking you got it exactly right.

If not for CBS and a few other news sites, this would be buried under the radar as well.

Until NEXT year that is.

"The ATF began Project Gunrunner as a pilot project in Laredo, Texas, in 2005 and expanded it as a national initiative in 2006. Project Gunrunner is also part of the Department of Justice’s broader Southwest Border Initiative, which seeks to reduce cross-border drug and firearms trafficking and the high level of violence associated with these activities on both sides of the border."

Project Gunrunner - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Project Gunrunner" began in 2005 - this is the next fake topic of RW MSM - Democratic Underground

The program began under the Bush administration. And people seem to leave that part out for some reason?????

That's fine except that the document in question was 2010.

Now add this to S 1867 (who we hope will not pass the House)

The ultimate goal of Politicians is to make us dependent on the government and vulnerable.

Yes, but its fruit of the bad seed. If the program lead to a massive failure and cover up, its because it started in 2005. Those who are wanting the heads of those in the Obama administration don't seem to be in favor of doing so for those in the Bush administration.

How many Bush appointees are still in the DOJ?

These departments have a life of their own. It matters not who the POTUS is. The president may appoint his own person to be the head, but the departments are a vast spider web of years of political hacks and bureaucrats who tell the upper management what they want them to hear, just like any other huge corporation.
