ATF officials didn't intend to publicly disclose their own role in letting Mexican cartels obtain the weapons, but emails show they discussed using the sales, including sales encouraged by ATF, to justify a new gun regulation called "Demand Letter 3".

They have blood all over their hands for this operation.

Imagine, an administration bent on implementing radical gun control, resorts to selling thousands of guns on the QT to drug lords, just so they can then claim illegal guns are making their way into Mexico.

Yes, but its fruit of the bad seed. If the program lead to a massive failure and cover up, its because it started in 2005. Those who are wanting the heads of those in the Obama administration don't seem to be in favor of doing so for those in the Bush administration.
These departments have a life of their own. It matters not who the POTUS is. The president may appoint his own person to be the head, but the departments are a vast spider web of years of political hacks and bureaucrats who tell the upper management what they want them to hear, just like any other huge corporation.
