Ride a bike, set your thermostat 10F lower in the winter and 10F higher in the summer, hang your clothes out to dry, walk, eat less meat, turn off / unplug appliances when you aren't using them, when you need something buy it used, when you need to go somewhere distant drive in a compact car or (even better) take the bus rather than fly in an airplane, build solar panels, use the bus / train / collective vans

Well according to the Republicans thats pretty much the choice...1. Drill baby drill or 2. Keep ourselves beholden to the middle east.

Luckily for the rest of the country, the Republicans are about to become an irrelevant party full of tea-tards, nutjobs, and extremists. It may take another election cycle or two, but the Republicans are going to become a permanent minority...At which time, we can start moving forward with becoming less dependant on oil. Even despite the billions the Koch brothers will spend to keep the Tea-Tards in business and continue dividing America, the country will start moving forward and not back to the 1800's as the Republicans want to take us back to.

So what do our Democratic saviors have in mind for the country's energy needs?

Specifics, please.

There are no realistic specifics from the left. I'd like an electric car, who wouldn't, but new EPA regs will force the shutdown of electric plants across the country. When supply goes down while demand goes up it puts enormous pressure on pricing, and only the wealthy will be able to afford electric cars. The no nukes crowd have killed that industry. The no petrochemicals crowd are blocking pipelines and drilling across the country.

Wind and solar are not enough to service America's energy needs. The only serious change this country needs is to vote the left out of office for the next generation.

Of course, you call us weak for finding solutions.

Looks like Cuba is looking forward. They will be drilling for oil in the straights of Florida 50 miles off the Cuban coast. Maybe we can stop them from drilling if we lend them half a billion dollars to build a solar panel factory.

Well the fact that they realize relying on big oil isn't the answer puts them light-years ahead of the Republicans.

What do we do?

Just WHAT guarantee is there that oil produced here will stay here? It's sold on the open market and may well go to China or India. Like the saying goes: Money talks, BS walks.

We buy solar from China? They control the sun now?

Your self-Righteous attempt at bashing the left is a FAIL

It amounts to generic you being part of the problem or part of the solution.
It's your choice.

Oil is not infinite.
We have to do what we can to conserve what resources are left.
