Now will they capitulate or try to fight the nothing he offered with his jobs speech with nothing. No matter what they do they will be accused by the left, the media and probably independents of being against jobs if they try to avoid the trap he set.

The answer seems to me to be to come up with things that will show that they are interested in jobs but think there may be better ways than another stimulus bill.

Such B.S. will only appeal to Obama's shallow and unthinking base and the useful idiots toting his line. They were going to vote for him anyway. The GOP candidate has plenty of illustrations of how Obama's previous stimuli failed to produce "jobs" even though those spending bills were falsely labeled as "jobs bills" by this administration.

He should keep doing it. The Tea Party did the same thing this summer, and it is time that Obama fights fire with fire. And be honest, do you really think they want the economy to improve? I have seen nothing that suggests that. When you spend a year poking sticks through the bars and spitting on a bear at the zoo, you have noone to blame when it leaps up and rips your face off. These GOP idiots have it coming. And then some.

I say pass it and make sure to inform the American people at every chance that i's his baby that he demanded to be passed immediatly to create jobs. When the jobs aren't created they can blame whoever they want but he's the one holding the bag with this nonsense. Of course make a HUUUUUGE deal about bending over and becoming bi partisan because they are sick of the rhetoric on the way to vote too. Let the libs eat their heroes poison.

Than let try to mold this effort into a true jobs bill, not a stimulus.

The purpose of this effort to is to put people back to work----not to loan states money, bail out banks, or any other purpose but to help some of the many millions who are unemployed.

The first volley has been fired by Messrs Cantor et al.......they consider Obamas financing alternatives to be tax increases-------not surprising.

I am leery of some of the financing also-----but this is serious stuff. The American people are fed up with congressional inaction-----if the financing is not up to agreement at this point, get to the table and let us know how it can be done without resorting to the usual slogans of deregulation.

Dont let this opportunity go by without at least convincing suffering Americans that somebody in Washington cares for their plight. Lets be creative here and allow some incisive people from both sides to come up with some innovative alternatives-----no need to slogan this effort to death.

Just cancel Obamacare and the illegal war in Libya to pay for it. Funding solved.

I agree with your last lines. However so many people i know at the present time who are out of work, or lost a home. And i too feel that Obama is not truly the person, who cares deeply about our plight, sorry my opinion your entitled to yours.

The suffering Americans i know of, who lost a job and homes too, under this administration and Obama, who were suppose to bring us nothing but Hope n' Change, let me tell ya something, hope this is not the Change most of you signed up for, if so, you have major issues.
He has not a clue, isn't it obvious. Even when he speaks he trys and reasure his self.

After the first fiasco, obama is refusing to set any targets for results. Repubs should start by demanding to know exactly what their $450B is expected to achieve in job creation and UE rate, and when. It should be an easy sell to say that spending $450B without any specific goals is laughably irresponsible.

Yeah that is a problem because the Republic Party is only interested in three things: 1) cutting spending to the bone, 2) shifting the tax burden away from the uber wealthy and toward the poor and working poor and 3) killing Social Security and Medicare for anyone under 55 or so.

None of this has to do with jobs.

My next door neighbor would not be working if it were not for stimulus money. Another neighbor has been looking for a position since Hurricane Ike. He has had some jobs. Substitute teaching will not pay property taxes in Texas and he can't sell his house.
I am weary of both parties trying to one up the other.
It is time for this congress to do what we elected them to do.
Old people have been trained to not put much in the stock market. CD's and MMA accounts just about charge us for our deposits.
With the Bush tax breaks and low interest, nothing is happening. That was supposed to help create jobs. Where are they?
