Excellent point. MOgal.

You can bet your sweet bippy that Bill isn't eating ANY of this crap.

Evil is an *excellent* word to use.

Unless people stand up and fight this kind of thing, we're really in big trouble.

We estimate that about 99.9% of the chemicals that humans
ingest are naturally occurring. The amounts of synthetic pesticide
residues in plant foods are lowin comparison to the amount
of natural pesticides produced by plants themselves (Ames et
al., 1990a, b; Gold et al., 1997a). Of all dietary pesticides that
Americans eat, 99.99% are natural: They are the chemicals produced
by plants to defend themselves against fungi, insects, and
other animal predators.
Each plant produces a different array of
such chemicals (Ames et al., 1990a, b).
We estimate that the daily average U.S. exposure to natural
pesticides in the diet is about 1500 mg
and to burnt material
from cooking is about 2000 mg (Ames et al., 1990b).
1500 mg/day is over a pound per year of naturally occuring toxins that have never been scrutinized for their effects on human health

PS: Government now wants to tax income of such foundations (surprise?).

Anyway, genetic manipulations can lead to all kinds of problems down the line IMO, but short term it seems to many better than starvation. So what if you go sterile and grow two extra heads.
The reprecussions is in wiping out all other non-GMO crops when GMO's cross pollinate. The less diverse our food the lower surviveablity of a species in the long run. GMO seed innoculated with pesticides is killing off the natural pollinators (bees/birds/bats).

The global elite have been searching for a way to reduce world populations for a very long time. Do some reading up on Buffet and what he used to back before he turned his charitable money over to the Gates' Foundation to administer.

There are a number of threads with links about Monsanto on this forum and others. I urge those who do not understand why Monsanto's push to control the seeds and food of the world is a huge problem rooted in evil motivations.

there is a significant movement within progressive politics to use GMO crops to prevent world starvation, but in general progressives GMOs -- due to corporate ownership of gene patents, and because they're smart :-)

Please read this if you believe Monsanto is some benign humanitarian corporation or if you are unsure of what "genetically" altered seeds mean the thriving and/or emerging food markets!!!

Or is this the religious cult view that humans shouldn't try to do ANYTHING to improve the world, because the supposed supernatural deity supposedly likes pain and suffering and waste?
In many ways, I agree with you. The problem is that a company like Monsanto continues to try an get patents on the world's food supply. Any company that does this is very dangerous IMO. There's an excellent documentary that can watched on youtube. The title is:

The "feed the world thing" is a total myth. Just like save the planet. They always make it sound good on the surface. You look into all the side effects and poison issues going on, plus profits, big debt, contamination and dependency on getting those seeds.

In tests w/ mice feed gmo soy they stopped reproducing after 6 generations. The real icing is you aren't even allowed to be informed if it is in your food.

I have no idea why people are resistent to such modified crops, as it is the key to supplying food for an ever increasing population with limited available crop land.
There a 125,000 farmers who are not longer 'resistent to such modified crops' - because they are dead.

"The GM genocide: Thousands of Indian farmers are committing suicide after using genetically modified crops

Shankara, like millions of other Indian farmers, had been promised previously unheard of harvests and income if he switched from farming with traditional seeds to planting GM seeds instead.

Beguiled by the promise of future riches, he borrowed money in order to buy the GM seeds. But when the harvests failed, he was left with spiralling debts - and no income.

So Shankara became one of an estimated 125,000 farmers to take their own life as a result of the ruthless drive to use India as a testing ground for genetically modified crops.

In this paper, we provide a comprehensive review of evidence on Bt cotton and farmer suicides, taking into account information from published official and unofficial reports, peer-reviewed journal articles, published studies, media news clips, magazine articles, and radio broadcasts from India, Asia, and international sources from 2002 to 2007. The review is used to evaluate a set of hypotheses on whether or not there has been a resurgence of farmer suicides, and the potential relationship suicide may have with the use of Bt cotton.
We first show that there is no evidence in available data of a “resurgence” of farmer suicides in India in the last five years. Second, we find that Bt cotton technology has been very effective overall in India. However, the context in which Bt cotton was introduced has generated disappointing results in some particular districts and seasons. Third, our analysis clearly shows that Bt cotton is neither a necessary nor a sufficient condition for the occurrence of farmer suicides. In contrast, many other factors have likely played a prominent role.
