Not all homophobes are religious, though. I have two associates that are die hard homophobes, and they don't have a religious bone in their body. They just think it's disgusting for a man to stick his penis in another mans rectum. Interestingly enough, both of them feel that anal sex with a woman is disgusting as well.

Many people are scared and/or repulsed by things they don't understand or don't feel are normal. It doesn't mean they have a mental disorder.
Why do you assume all gay guys practice that form of sex....because your assumption is WRONG!!!!!!

And more to the point...Why do you care to even discuss something like that...I never dwell on sex like many homophobes do.

It's called the down low.

I'm disgusted by a dog eating it's own poop, but I haven't thought about it in years till today. I certainly don't make a point to talk about it.
I know people who are disgusted by homosexuality--and they only talk about it, if someone else brings it to their attention. Otherwise they don't talk about it over and over again. Matter of fact most people I know that do not agree with homosexuality rarely will talk about it, unless it is brought to their attention to which they will say their beliefs on the matter.

I do think that if someone is talking about it over and over again, or seems to have an extreme repulsion to it, then yes they are either homophobic or a closet homosexual, but I think it's dangerous to assume that anyone who disagrees with it is "secretly" gay or is homophobic.

Your post is a prime example of homophobia.....talk about an irrational fear and distortion of the truth. Straight sex bombards us every second on TV...trying to sell everything from beer to KY to Trojan vibrators....give me a break!

Never saw the cult classic movie..... Pink Flamingos I guess!

Ohhh.. P2S. I never made that assumption. I was simply making an observation of people I know based off of the thread topic. Homosexuality is not something I discuss on a regular basis, unless it is brought up by someone else.

I have nothing against you Pittston. I am not a homophobe, but I know many people who are. After all, that is what the thread is about, right?

That's an interesting theory you have there Frozenyo.

I have a theory about "homophobia" as well.

Mine is that revulsion to homosexuality by heterosexuals is part of a natural survival strategy which has helped those with this innate tendency avoid diseases non-breeders are incapable of evolving to counter.

HIV found a very comfortable place to replicate itself in gay men and an efficient way to spread itself through anal intercourse. Had this virus faced breeders ages ago, it would have been effectively eliminated by new humans capable of defeating this virus. In fact, this is exactly what is taking place in heterosexuals today...

"Two weeks ago, European researchers announced that some babies born with HIV (an inheritance from their HIV-positive mothers) appear to be able to shake the virus out of their systems. Some people even seem to be totally immune to infection despite repeated, prolonged exposure to HIV."

Since homosexuals have the ability to spread diseases with other homosexuals but no ability to develop resistance through sexual reproduction, and since these specialized bugs are allowed to develop in isolation until they become extremely resilient, aren't heterosexuals wise to avoid contact with the homosexuals who could potentially host them?

I know....I said the post not you.........you and I talk here often and I don't have you on ignore.......

But seriously straight folks need to realize gays are all different, like everyone else........many of us don't do the things others assume we do.

You and I obviously have different definitions of homophobia. Hating homosexuals and simply believing that their actions are unnatural are two entirely different things. Don't get that mixed up.

If you are even remotely familiar with my posting history, you would know better.

Ummmmm, you failed to acknowledge the rapid spread of HIV through the straight population.

What do you think? Are homophobes suffering from a mental disorder?
I consider it an opinion.
