I don't think they mention religion on birth certificates these days but in 1961...? Even then I would think they would only list the parents' religion but who knows.
At this point I think Obama wants to keep the controversy going so he can point to any of his critics and suggest they are birthers.

Mine is from 1949 and it doesn't state religion.

Mine's the same year, no religion. DH's from 1948, ditto. H***, I have my mom's long form from 1921, no religion. Some people really need to get a grip.

Yeah, I just Googled one from 1962 from Hawaii. No mention of religion there either. OK, I think we can rule that out as the reason Obama refuses to release it. Besides, we already know he was registered as a Muslim in gradeschool in Indonesia anyway so it wouldn't be a big surprise to see it on his birth certeficate.
Another theory is that his race may be listed as Caucasian. Since he is mixed race, and not very dark skinned (and even lighter as a newborn baby) his mother may have put down 'caucasian' for race. Considering the discrimination present in the time she lived, it would be the smart thing to do. Since Obama has largly gotten a pass from the mainstream media because they are affraid to be seen as racist, it would be a major setback to find out he's actually White.

The infant's race is never stated on a BC, at least in all the states that I've seen them. The parent's race is listed. For all the rampaging about Obama's father being listed as "African", IMO, that is more proof that it is a true BC and not a forgery. A forgery would be likely to say, "Black" or "Negro". His mom or dad listed the dad as African, which is a way Africans from Africa like to differentiate themselves from African-Americans.

Is this tongue-in-cheek? It's common knowledge that Barack Obama is mixed white and black. Biracial people often self-identify with one or the other as they come of age instead of seeing themselves as a third category. It wouldn't make any difference what a document said, it wouldn't negate the fact he's part-black if it said "White", and it wouldn't negate the fact he's part-white if it said "Black". So he isn't "actually White" nor is he "actually Black" other than that he identifies as black, which is his choice, not his late mother's nor some hospital clerk's.
