Bush did not double Federal Spending in k-12 education.
From the Dept of Education website:

1999 (Bill Clinton, President). $37 billion on K-12
2006 (G.W. Bush, President). $104 billion on K-12
2009 (Barack Obama, President). $64 billion.

You are correct though. He didn't double it. He pert near tripled it.

Maybe if Obama and the Dems cared about the kids they would spend as much on education as Bush and the Republicans. Then we wouldn't have this mess in Wisconsin.

Harborlady is correct--Obama is so beholden to government unions, Wall Street, Big Pharma, trial lawyers & environmentalists while refusing to do anything to reign in Fannie & Freddie that if any party is facing 'the beginning of the end', it's definitely not the GOP.

Obama is a center/right wall street republican. Scott Walker and the rest of the tea party are far right wing radicals.

Bascailly ;IMO : we a5e just seeig the start of the end of people turnig their heads while the taxpayers are milked dry. The defict alone assures this. People have said enough tax and spend even more:ITS A SPENDING PROBLEM.Time to payoff the borrowing that we have doene and that means CUTS. Europe gets it but liberals here do not but it doesn't matter because people are not going to keep paying more and letting governamnt borrow more.

Of course we still don't get much bang for the buck since parents are not active education consumers. Vouchers are the way to go. They would foster effectiveness, efficiency and accountability.

Hey, Badger... why do you and the libs seem to be the only ones who had no clue what Walker's plan was to address state and local budget deficits? Are you all just generally uninformed, or what?

The teachers' union knew what Walker's plan was; they complained about it last August:
Quote:
The state's powerful teachers union opposes Walker's plan and is signaling a fight over it if Walker is elected and moves the idea forward.

"Our members oppose taking away their rights to collective bargaining, so they would definitely raise their voices against it," Christina Brey, speaking for the Wisconsin Education Association Council, said of Walker's plan.
Barrett, Walker plans would add workers to health pool - JSOnline

Walker's plan was publicly known all along, and the fed up WI taxpayers elected Walker to enact it.

The taxpayers will not pay any more to support the temper tantrum throwing greedy public employee unions. The WI taxpayers have spoken.

Apparently, that is exactly what was going on in WI until Walker was elected. Hence, the $3.6 billion budget deficit left by Doyle.

Watching Wisconsin residents change their opinion of Scott Walker has been instructive. In the beginning, those who had voted for Walker were firmly in his corner. But as the facts became clear and they found out that the unions had already agreed to increase their pension and health care payments to what Walker said was needed....and that Walker had refused their offer.....many started to change their minds.

As Walker appeared over and over on tv being arrogant and insulting toward these teachers, nurses, guards, policemen, firemen, scientists, street maintenance workers, etc. etc. the opinion of the public started swinging even more against Walker. After all, there are very few residents who do not know or are not related to some of those Walker was insulting and they know these are decent hard working Wisconsin people who do not deserve to be talked about as Walker and his minions were doing.

And then came the phone call where Walker really showed his real scheme and when added to the fact that he had snuck into the budget a demand that he be allowed to sell assets that belong to the Wisconsin people to his buddies at whatever price he wanted to without any bids or any approval of the elected representatives, it became extremely clear that he wasn't working for the people of Wisconsin but for his billionaire buddies the Koch brothers. With that Walker lost the respect and support of most who had previously supported him. It is not an exageration to say that to thousands of Wisconsin residents Walker has become the most hated man in America.

Yes, there are still some who support him. They tend to be the same people who listen to Beck daily and actually believe that what Beck is saying is rational. But for the average Wisconsin resident, Republican and Democrat, Walker has "jumped the shark" and lost all credibility. For those who don't believe this.....watch the next election.

Every single politician you elect is negotiating a field of knives and rendered a puppet. See this. It doesn't matter how honest and well meaning anyone is in defense of America. The special interests have not been managed properly and the mission is compromised as a result. It must be addressed or Tea will forever march in circles kicking at the pillars of civilization blame game on their brothers. They're dupes complaining at symptoms convinced they have cures by cutting others down. They have no cures. They have de-evolution nihilist plans. Just another brand of kumbaya. The complete and total worship of capitalism at any price is akin to pacifist arguments gone to illogical extreme.
First, I agree that politicians on both sides are beholden to special interests and I don't like that from either side. Secondly, though you may not be, there is, unfortunately, a large segment of the population that is lured around by twinkies.
