This man was silent during the Bush years, like all the rest of the Republicans. Where was the outrage to the spending that Bush was doing? Why ignore that reality and its collosal negative impact to slash the living daylights out of education? Education was ignored during the Bush years, now he wants to slash it, pretending as if the GOP didn't bring us to this mess? This is the beginning of the end to the GOP. I sense a total annihilation of Republican candidates come 2012. Way to eliminate yourselves, Pubs.
What's so hard to understand about the straw that broke the camel's back? The limit has finally been reached. If they weren't broken he probably wouldn't be acting...but he has to.
Until you liberal dems realize that the party is over there will be conflict.

I fully agree with you regarding the silence from many on the right during the Bush years. In all honesty did we see very many democrats standing tall during the Clinton trials? They do tend to support their own, which is a complaint I have with both parties. I would love to see them actually act like individuals and do what is right for the country. Education was not ignored during Bush and he did try to bring some accountability to the system instead of hanging on to tired old Union mentality which is to protect the incompetent now. The Union has changed and I don't think it acts in our best interest. How about moving away from these old ideals of the 30'sm 40' and 50's and really have some progressive thoughts?
Wow, didn't know one STATE Republican Party was representative of the entire GOP as a whole? Seriously, if that's all that the resident lefties on here have, then I'm not worried in 2012 Walker is doing the same Chris Christie is doing, except he has the GO numbers in the Assembly to do it, unlike Christie and look how much of a mess NJ is in. Go Walker! You're not losing in 2012, despite what the moonbats on Huffy say!

And according to our results, we should be among the bottom 5 on that list. So clearly funding is not the problem.

Why is you righties keep repeating the same untruth over and over? The unions agreed to the terms, it is the Governor that said no and wanted to end collective bargaining which was not even an issue with their budget at the time. And while we are at it why is that if they were so broke did he give the Rich and Big Business huge tax cuts, that is not logical. There is only one issue and that is breaking the backs of unions, plain and simple, budgets are only a failed excuse which does not pass the test of logic.

If the unions agreed to the deal, then why didn't they sign on the dotted line and go back to work?
I don't think Walker (or more appropriately, the types of policies R governors are promoting nation wide) is going to be the end of the GOP, but I think people are getting fed up fast with the tea party, radical end of the party. If this debate goes on for the next year and a half, I think it's going to be a while before the R's carry races anywhere but the south. They'll lose the Midwest for sure. You're forgetting that there's a real social conservative base in the south that will vote R no matter what, but that base alone isn't enough to win national elections. I'm guessing a backlash next election where the D's take power again--and huge gridlock with the R's that remain.

Do you even know what you're talking about? They agreed to the concessions almost immediately after this whole thing started, and Walker is refusing to even TALK to them. The fight is over his proposal to gut collective bargaining for even non-monetary items--not over concessions from the employees.
