The above is undeniably true, but go over to the ed forum and probably 75% of the threads blame the parents for something in some of the posts. It seems to be an occupation hazard among teachers, too. I've always said I'd like to see how they'd do in pediatric nursing, where the parents are right there "in your face" at least 99.9% of the time. The 0.1% represents the few patients we have who drive themselves to the office, and even then, their parents sometimes call us later. We do have a policy at our office that parents want what's best for their kids and it's our place to work with them, not against them, to help them get that.
Quite right, and most blame single mothers, while the absent and negligent fathers get a pass. What's up with that?

The article was pure bias based on emotional presumptions. Can you compare one insurance carrier's package to another in value and sticker price if so much of an insurance contract has devil in detail?
Yes, I can. Why? Because that EXACT comparison was made in 2000, when it was clear even then that the teachers' union-owned insurance company was creating a conflict of interest.

The teachers' health insurance benefits have been a costly problem in WI since at least 2000 when an Insurance and Risk Managenement Assoc. Prof at UW-Madison* (state employee, no less) and an independent Insurance and Risk Management consultant examined the issue and found that the teachers' union's insurance company, the Wisconsin Education Association's Ins Corp, was overcharging by $50 million per year back then. Walker's Dem predecessor Doyle did nothing about the teachers' union's abusive overcharges for insurance for 8 years, costing taxpayers a minimum of an extra $400 million. Walker was elected by the WI taxpayers to end this and other public employee union abuses.
Sure, the unions are screaming about having this cash cow taken away, an extra $50-68 million per year is a nice take, wouldn't you say?
Walker is trying to make sure the union won't be able to scam and rip off the WI taxpayers anymore.

No ethics needed. Fact is they're a nuisance. Fact is the state of Kansas does not have a will of it's own because he decides who they will elect based on what agenda serves him best. The WI teachers' union-owned insurance company has overcharged WI taxpayers a minimum of $400 million over the past 8 years of Dem Gov. Doyle's admin, and will continue to overcharge WI taxpayers $68 million per year unless Walker stops them by enacting the plan he was elected to enact.
One of the reasons our younger generations since the 1960's have gone to "hell" is that all the "do gooders" that insisted we have all the "child protection" laws have legislated discipline out of both the home and the schools. Add to that the "welfare" handouts making "unwed" mothers' " mistakes so easy to feed, provide health, etc., etc., and the fact that we "as adults" have let music and movies get filthy and immoral but still let kids watch and hear the crap.
Many different areas of our society have simply turned kids loose which will never, ever work and will destroy any society in which that happens.
This cannot be corrected by throwing $'s at it. It can only be corrected by getting rid of destructive laws and re-instating discipline, morals and ethics.
That social conservative party line is more than a little worn out. If women are wrong for working, wrong for abstaining, wrong for an abortion, wrong for staying at home... there's not a whole lot of room left in America for the majority of the planet to stand with your mentality or sick economic vision. Here's a better plan- provide vasectomies for irresponsible males. Abortion #'s plummet, chasing dead beat dads comes to a dull roar, custody battles cleared from the courts. Job's training for women in place of the social pressure to crank out babies as a life mission (originating in religious instructions).
It would be very very nice indeed if respectable women could earn an honest living based on her gifts/ talents vs prostitution offered in America. Find out why so many men prefer brothels over raising children. That's a gigantic clue to solve your morals and ethics problem. It is not womankinds job to worship men. We worship our maker, we honor each other. Equality was always there, it just got overridden by control freaks wanting to own the planet all for themselves. More than a little ironic that Koch is pronounced "coke" and that cocaine/crack would hit epidemic proportions in 80's. The hearts of men are ill and the person selling the drugs told them their wife did it to them. There are your domestic violence & broken family statistics summed up nicely. The boss mind tripping him telling him to do unethical things to feed his family is destroying the dignity & ethics of men, and in turn, their families.
So who should take the blame? They're their children, for pete's sake. They're raising them, instilling values, educating them. Or should be.
Blame is something to avoid in America. So is responsibility. Whose idea was that? Don't blame it on 'socialism'. If parents have allowed themselves to be lured around by 5,000 brands of free market 'me first' entertainment at the expense of their children, they missed the job requirement. Children are a responsibility of parents. Children are the responsibility of schools in vastly limited ways. Whatever comes up short becomes a parents job to bridge the gap. If they're unwilling to do so that's a handicap parents put on their children.
Walker is kind of out of the picture now. What has to happen is to have a couple of reasonable Repub Senators, agrre to remove the Union Busting language. Then the Dems will return, agree with the amended bill and let the process come to a completion.
That's probably what's going to happen. When Rasmussen is even polling that the Republicans are on the unpopular side of the issue (by a lot), I think we'll see at least 4 Republicans rethinking this whole thing. Add to that Walker's numbers going down the tube, and well, there willl be some Republicans bailing from that ship.
There was a lot of outrage to Bush's spending. If all Republicans were fiscally conservative the TEA party movement never would have started.
The Tea party was started long ago in think tanks shaping media messages and indoctrinate conservatives against pesky things like ethics getting in your way. Killing 500 people for a buck is GOOD.
Find out which think tanks and their private sponsors (incest is best) installed Bush jr concocting crazy programs like no child left behind unfunded mandate, expansion of medical benefits for elderly that we couldn't pay for (designed to bankrupt medicade), reduction of taxes and increased spending, monstrosities offensive to the constitution such as the patriot act, purchasing grace and favor from the bench making pollution a lucrative endeavor, put sugar in the gas tank of the global economy, invent a new branch of government the monsterous Borg we now call the department of homeland security. Who did all that? Isn't that everything people accuse dems of doing even when they're not?
Follow the money and it goes right back to Koch bros, Murdoch, and their crony pals in think tanks smiling all the way to the bank. You've been duped. He's been corrupting GOP and this is nothing short of a hostile takeover plan of a political party. The haters and evil radicals on the right are cannibalizing party principles.
