CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf told the House Budget Committee on Thursday that the health care law will reduce employment by 0.5 percent by 2021 because some people will no longer have to work just to afford health insurance.

“That means that if the reduction in the labor used was workers working the average number of hours in the economy and earning the average wage, that there would be a reduction of 800,000 workers,” Elmendorf said in an exchange with Rep. John Campbell (R-CA).

He means willfully leaving the work force, not losing their job.

There is a difference.

Yes, thats what the report said.

And its not name calling, I'm making an observation about your debate tactics. You're being dense because you aren't letting new ideas, or the facts enter into your thinking.

Have a nice day.

Right-Wing Media Distort CBO To Claim Health Care Law Kills "800,000 Jobs"
February 11, 2011 4:38 pm ET — 18 Comments
Misrepresenting testimony from the CBO director, conservative media claim the health care reform law will eliminate 800,000 jobs. In fact, CBO said the law will "reduc[e] the amount of labor that workers choose to supply, and as health expert Paul Van De Water stated, "If people voluntarily choose to reduce their hours of work ... that's not killing jobs."

And since you have put so much faith in the CBO now....

Comprehensive health care reform will cost the federal government $940 billion over a ten-year period, but will increase revenue and cut other costs by a greater amount, leading to a reduction of $138 billion in the federal deficit over the same period, according to an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office, a Democratic source tells HuffPost. It will cut the deficit by $1.2 trillion over the second ten year period.

CBO Score On Health Care Bill Released: Boosts Democrats' Hopes Of Passing Reform

Remind me again why this is a bad thing? I'd think reducing the deficit by 1.2 trillion would be a good thing.

Love how teabags ignore actual facts, and proof that their teabagger news agencies are purposely distorting info.

O.K., so lets say it DOES reduce the deficit by 1.2 trillion in the SECOND 10 year period...

Are we talking about what the deficit is now (as in no more spending) or what the deficit is after the first 10 years...?

Sorry, we now know the ESTIMATES in the CBO are nothing but a bunch of garbage. See, the CBO MUST adhere to the assumptions that were put forth by the democrat congress, assumptions like the double counting, assumptions like the doc fix, etc.

Remember the CBO adjusted their figure?

The director of the CMS Actuary warned us about the bogus numbers;

You completely ignore all the nasty little details that have come out about obamacare, completely ignore all the bogus assumptions CBO is REQUIRED to score.

We know the democrats filled it up with bogus numbers/assumptions in order to get the "right" number - a $1 Trillion +.

It takes a big man to admit they linked some garbage estimates that they originally thought were legit (to make Obama look bad,) and created a thread based on them.
I mean, they were legit enough to say he was terrible, right? Since they are in fact, not legit, according to you, then Obama must be awesome.

Good show.

Look, I don't like the health care law in its current form. But that doesn't mean you weren't wrong about it killing jobs. The jobs aren't going away, but are being opened to others that need them.

What you have proven is your own shortcomings. You are not god, and its ok to be wrong, but you should admit it when its presented to you.

You bash the cbo after you start a thread based on their report. Unbelievable

Some people are still lying about this? Time to move on, I think.
