Assange Accuser Worked with US-Funded, CIA-Tied Anti-Castro Group
By: Kirk James Murphy, M.D.
December 05, 2010 "FDL" --
Yesterday Alexander Cockburn reminded us of the news
Israel Shamir and Paul Bennett broke at Counterpunch in September.
Julian Assange’s chief accuser in Sweden has a
significant history of work with anti-Castro groups,
at least one of which is US funded and openly
supported by a former CIA agent convicted in
the mass murder of seventy three Cubans on
an airliner he was involved in blowing up.
Anna Ardin (the official complainant) is
often described by the media as a “leftist”.
She has ties to the US-financed
anti-Castro and anti-communist groups.
She published her anti-Castro diatribes
(see here and here) in the Swedish-language
publication Revista de Asignaturas Cubanas
put out by Misceláneas de Cuba.
Does this mean the "poison" pill he setup to get released upon his arrest will run releasing hundreds of thousands of other documents, or is being arrested on unrelated charges already built into the equation?

More than likely they want to get him detained while they figure out what charges to file him with. The sex charges did the trick very similar to Al Capone and tax charges..

Well the jerk needs to be charged with treason, but knowing the Obama administration, he'll be released, pardoned and probably get a position in his cabinet.

Perhaps some agents of the land of freedom and democracy could kidnap the guy, bring hem to some obscure prison somewhere in Eastern Europe or so, where he can be tortured, fly him over to Guantanamo where he can be tortured again and have him finaly convicted for life in prison based on some stupid law that don't even apply to him as he's no American citizen, but who cares...
We can't wait to see your secretary of state begging on her knees again to adopt some more Guantanamo detainees. One wonders why so many Europeans don't even consider the US a state of law anymore...
I also think it is probably a setup. Accusing someone of rape is the lowest most dispicable act I can think of. Can't we get the guy on espinage charges, of which he is clearly guilty? Why do we have to make up something stupid? Sadly, I think the reason is that the American public can't get their heads around something like 'espianage' but they can understand more basic concepts like 'rape' The guy is scum and deserves to rot in prison for the rest of his life like any other spy but he does not deserve to be branded a rapist. Also, this still won't help find the people who leaked him the documents in the first place. We know one private is in prison for leaking some documents but he probably didn't act alone. We need to find the rest of them. This entire incident is a national disaster for the Obama administration yet they act as if it was a minor issus. Robert Gibbs played it off as 'some guy who plunks down $35 for a web site". It shows they aren't aking it seriously.

Unless the accused is guilty, of course.

I'm pretty sure they're taking it seriously. Do you really expect the government to come out and say, "Yep, we let some PFC steal a million documents! We screwed up, in a monumental way!" No, they're not going to say that. They're going to play it down as much as possible, in public.
