Here is a list of China's largest trading partners (in exports), in order:
United States
Japan South Korea
Germany
Netherlands
United Kingdom
North Korea is nowhere to be found. In fact I'm pretty sure they are a net drain on the Chinese economy. If hostilities break out, who do you think China is likely to support?
The Chinese are pretty pragmatic and have never hesitated using military force when it suited them. If they think N. Korea is getting out of line then they will slap them down pretty quick.
And very, very hard. But will they stop at the 38th parallel or simply annex a well developed competitor into the One Great State? I'm not betting either way but the latter makes more financial sense.
Typical, a Liberal who thinks shelling another country is nothing to worry about. Oh and those deaths that occurred because of it? Oh, that's ok, it's just ole Kim up to his sabre rattling again. Sheesh, what irresponsibility, but god forbid the USA did something like this in retaliation for something real.
I suppose invading and occupying a country with no real game plan other than " we are bringing democracy and getting rid of a bad guy" and " they will all rejoice at us coming there" is no big deal or nothing to worry about either? No big deal that thousands of civilians died because " that's just war , things like that happens".
Interesting how worrying about if a civilian is killed is selective depending. But if you were really worried about civilians you would stop and think what a full Korean war would bring. But no, seems American pride is really at the forefront right?
Despite crys about having to be the worlds policemen some who cry about it actually in the end want to be it seems.

I highly doubt they would simply try to annex S Korea. The political and economic backlash from the international community would be tremendous! Same reason they didn't just take Taiwan a long time ago. Of course they can do it, it would probably take them about 15 minutes. But the future risks are just not worth it.
Frankly, I don't think it would be smart diplomacy to start pointing fingers at China over this matter. China lends us money so we can buy their products. They put the profits into US treasury bonds, still the safest investment in the world. China needs us, we need China. Whether we like it or not, burning the China bridge would be suicidal for our country. North Korea is demonstrating that the third son has muscle. It is an exercise in internal affairs. nothing more.
There is a difference between burning bridges and pressuring a country to stand up to it's responsibilities. As far as our relationship with China goes, it is highly self destructive to the American economy, and only benefiting the wealthy. Your confidence in US treasury bonds may be a little over extended. The whole Treasury bond trade is little more than a ponsie scheme designed by banks.
As Thomas Edison said: “If the Nation can issue a dollar bond it can issue a dollar bill. The element that makes the bond good makes the bill good also. The difference between the bond and the bill is that the bond lets the money broker collect twice the amount of the bond and an additional 20%. Whereas the currency, the honest sort provided by the Constitution pays nobody but those who contribute in some useful way. It is absurd to say our Country can issue bonds and cannot issue currency. Both are promises to pay, but one fattens the usurer and the other helps the People.”
Without the Treasury bond scheme, the US government would have no debt. It would simply print money thru the Treasury as needed, which was how the forefathers designed it. Of course that make no money for world bankers, and so we have a central bank that creates and lends money to the government at interest. So how is that system working for us? Not too well. We now have a 14 trillion dollar debt we have to pay interest on.
When we begin to do what is right instead of what is easy, we can begin to get back the things which have been stolen from us. Our economy, our rights, and our control over government, as opposed to their control over us.
