'Profiling' seems to work. Look what it did for the FBI in the case of Randy Weaver.

In your case, be glad that was only CPS. If the FBI gets into it, they can freely focus a dozen agents on you for 6-months to try and convince you to cut a shotgun barrel to less than legal, and after all that if you still refuse to violate any laws they can shoot your wife and children, and when it is all completed every agent involved will get promotions for it [see Randy Weaver].

While the victims refused to violate any laws, the agents all got promotions.
