There is nothing free about life in the USA.

Back when this country was founded, at that time i'm sure most people truely felt like the US was a free country.

But these days. In the USA there are more laws and regulations and bueracracy in just about every area than there are in other countries.

The politics in America are a complete sham and the people do not have any true political power except on local levels.

Politicians have their own agendas that they are pushing for, and they ignore what the people want if it gos against their agenda.

So, what exactly makes it the land of the free? I just don't see it. I think it's BS.

haha. Wow, I guess i'm not the first and not the last person to start this kind of topic!

Anyway. I was just thinking back to my childhood history classes, and I realized how much propaganda and BS there was. Outright lies and exagerations attempting to make the US look better than it really is.

And I think the USA calling itself "the land of the free" is the epitomy of this kind of BS.

In the first place, if you'd have paid attention in that history class, you'd know that politics today is rather mild compared with the past.

Secondly, you just witnessed WHY, and HOW, this is still the land of the free last night. The People still rule this place. You may not like what they're saying, or support what they want, but it is in the very act of chosing who to represent them under a Constitution which still works that makes us free.

The elections are rigged.

You don't know that?

I sorta agree. Those who define themselves as conservatives have long prevented other Americans for enjoying some personal freedoms. If you're a true conservative, you may agree or not on certain issues, especially personal choice ones but you should not interfere with other people's choice

Take for instance gay marriage or weed. There's no reason to vote against it, simply let others enjoy it. That's what conservativism and freedom stand for.

Warning: Marijuana can cause bizarre behavior in people who have never tried it.

So true.

Conservatives in the US have been hoodwinked into supporting policies that are actually very socialist and totalitarian in their nature.

Are you being serious here?

What kind of bizarre behavior? Laughing? Eating a ton of junk food? Zoning out? A little bit of paranoia?

Yeah, let's keep on fighting the drug war and throwing people in prison over weed. It's so worth it.
