What a stupid case. I hope they lose. You sue if they don't get in the pool. Had they got in the pool and something happened, they would have sued again.

Haha, I drive past that place every day. What would possess someone to think wearing a long dress and headscarf to a pool is appropriate?

On a side note: I've seen muslim girls (young, like aged 5-7) taking swim lessons in long sleeved shirts and thick winter tights underneath a one-piece swimsuit. Seriously? Go back to the middle east if you're going to subject your kids to that BS.

You left out a potentially important piece of information

Meanwhile, friends and family who did not wear headscarves entered the water park fully clothed in regular attire without problems

The information you pointed out was not in the story when I posted it. The news sites really need to stop posting articles that they leave out key information in after the fact.

But still the fact of the matter is the people they were with must have had swimsuits. The father and mother had no swimsuit. How are they going to prove the other people did not have swimsuits?

Is that a fact? Was that bit of information removed from the article?

Since when can't the forest preserve district enforce safety rules/dress codes for their swimming pool?

Look at the signs next to any public or YMCA pool, they clearly state that you cannot swim wearing anything but a swimming suit. A person trying to swim in a full head cover and long dress like outfit creates a safety risk for them and the lifeguards who are paid to keep them alive. It's like trying to swim wearing jeans, a sweater and shoes.

Is it codified or arbitrary?
