"Despite President Obama's pledge to retain more hi-tech jobs in the U.S., a federal agency run by a hand-picked Obama appointee has launched a $22 million program to train workers, including 3,000 specialists in IT and related functions, in South Asia.
Following their training, the tech workers will be placed with outsourcing vendors in the region that provide offshore IT and business services to American companies looking to take advantage of the Asian subcontinent's low labor costs."

It is bad enough that we have the unemployment we have now and to think that the government is going to spend tax dollars to promote even more off shoring is reprehensible. I don't even think Bush would have done this!
Too many working people over here... or maybe we got to share our "wealth" with the poorer nations... instead of redistribution of wealth inside the US, we redistribute it with the world... what that means is most of the people in the US will be considered "wealthy"... but the ideology is the same, except the "takers" in this country don't get to steal anymore, now they are the victim... how does it feel?

Yes... in the global economy, we are the haves and the have nots are nearly every other country. Our wealth will be redistributed to other countries' workers in the name of global social justice.
I'll echo evilnewbie's question... how does it feel?
Seems like USAID is doing this as a part of routine international development projects. Presumably, they are teaching (mostly) Sri Lankans to fish - a noble form of aid, but at the expense of our fishing industry. It is "only" $22 million - nothing compared to Ford building a factory in China, and at the same time, asking for handouts from Congress. But still, one feels like grumbling...
What a smart idea when MILLIONS of Americans are out of work or underemployed. /end sarcasm
Even if our unemployment rate was lower, this would still be a huge waste of taxpayer funds.
Why not use that money to try to get jobs from overseas back to the U.S.?
If this doesn't show how corporate-owned our Congress is....people are really just as blind as I unfortunately suspect they are.
Didn't you get the global social justice memo?
