Yes, he is ultimately responsible and he has taken that responsibilty, but that doesn't mean this "came from the top". I'm sure there are greater issues on any given day in the life of a POTUS. Vilsack states he did it on his own. You can refuse to take him at his word, but that doesn't give you any inside knowledge.
Again, according the dear Shirley, the call came through telling her the WHITE HOUSE wanted her gone.

Stop for a moment and think.

It's pretty hard for the government to just fire people..there's usually hearings and a trail of paperwork leading up to "goodbye".

In this case they had her pull her car over, on the way to work, and use her blackberry to send in a letter of resignation. Now you have to think this "request" came from pretty high up since there was no hearing, no review, no NOTHING.

Yeah..I think it came from pretty high up since she was ousted so quick.

I like how Obama took a jab at Youtube. He really does hate social media and the power of the internet.

I agree with you, talk about naive. The way that this went down, as fast as this went down, you know orders had to come from the top. Gee wonder who is head at the top. Regardless of others, had to come from top-brass. Stupid top-brass, but never the less, top-brass.

I guess you would have preferred he said Vilsack was doing a "heckofa job"? Then you would have started a thread praising him?

Still came from the WH.
Yes, and Vilsack being a member of the cabinet is part of the WHITE HOUSE.

Whether my low level experiences correlate in any way with how any other organization functions, I can't say.

The 'Leader' meets with the staff and sets forth 'policies'. Then those delegated interpret the policies.

This is 'kindergarten' level behavior on the part of all concerned.
So we will cut off our nose to spite our face.

sigh--I know what I will do about this and what many others will do.

Yep. That is in fact what she said...
Quote:
Shirley Sherrod, the USDA's former director of rural development in Georgia, said USDA deputy undersecretary Cheryl Cook called her Monday and said the White House wanted her to resign, the Associated Press reports.

"They called me twice," Sherrod told the AP, noting that she was driving when she received the calls. "The last time they asked me to pull over the side of the road and submit my resignation on my Blackberry, and that's what I did."
Shirley Sherrod: White House Forced My Resignation - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Did Sherrod lie? If she's a liar, why should she now be offered a new civil rights-related job at the USDA, even though the fact that she admitted to committing actions that violated the Civil Rights Act in that infamous NAACP video should have disqualified her for that job right off the bat?

Vilsack DESERVES to be "run over by a bus". He is a proponent for the two biggest threats today to this country's food supply.....GMO's and factory farming. The sooner he is ousted from Washington the better.
