I don't think Paul would stand a chance against another GOP candidate like Romney, let alone a head to head race against Obama. Banks and corporations elect Presidents and other elected officials. They don't like the Ron Paul types.

No way. He comes across as too much of a loon for most Americans. Most Americans do want their government to do something. Ron Paul wants the government to do next-to-nothing.
Anyways, could he have a chance of winning? What about compared to other GOP potentials?
in 2012? i'd vote for him and hate the Republicans even more than i hate the Democrats. the problem is he cannot get the nomination of his own party because he may stand for something other than furthering corperate control - which is what BOTH the Democrats and Republicans are all about.
Last time, despite having a dedicated band of followers that put signs and stickers everywhere, he got less than 5% of the vote. Enough said.
Closed primaries in many states, which hurt Paul because half his supporters weren't registered Republicans.
I do think Paul might be able to beat Obama, however due to his views on war and peace issues, his opposition to the War on Drugs, and his opposition to corporatism, he has very little chance of winning the GOP nomination.
I also think that if Paul did become President there'd be a situation resembling when Jesse Ventura was MN governor. Both parties would get together in Congress and cooperate to defeat any legislation he proposed.
