** Title edited to correct error... which originally said "Greenpeace Boat Captain.... **

RIP. I feel for his family. One must have deeper issues to kill themselves because of an oil spill. I always thought there was something different about Green Peace people who are willing to risk their lives for their effort... I just did not realize one of them would take their own life for it.

Gulf oil spill: Boat captain, despondent over spill, commits suicide | Greenspace | Los Angeles Times

Yeah, had to be more than the oil spill to make him do that. The spill may have been the final straw, but certainly not the catalyst. At least I certainly hope not.

Where in this article, (other than your title) does it mention Greenpeace?

The captain was a charter boat capt. hired by BP.

Likely he saw his livelihood disappearing and this is what he was depressed about. Money woes have led to many a suicide.

At the very least, I hope he was well insured so his family will be taken care of.

Default My bad...

Yes, I apologize. I misread. Still too bad someone would kill themselves for that reason. I also still think Greenpeace people risk their lives to make a point. Title corrected.
