Well at least the kids are having pizza together. I have no hope anymore, but one good night is at least a night of not shooting each other.

No mention of the numerous shootings. They would rather see more dead teenagers than talk about it.

It's like the story about the Emperors new clothes.

That’s because it’s not a good look. Just wait till Big Ed takes over as mayor and the police get defunded.

The Pittsburgh Police has currently (quietly) been going through defunding because neither police civilians nor police officers have been replaced as they have been resigning or retiring. The "hiring freeze" excuse was given, but other departments are able to hire. I am guessing the hiring freeze on police only will continue until January 2022 when Mayor Gainey will decide whether or not to hire more police civilians and officers or just continue to keep the freeze in place and lose about one officer or civilian every week or two without replacing them to defund over time without layoffs.

Last interview I saw with him he said he was going to have less policing, and spread police out instead of having more in what I would call “problem areas”, and using social workers to “de-escalate” calls.

One every week or two without replacing them? That is pretty significant. I don't have much of an opinion one way or the other, but that is a big change over the course of a year and beyond.
