Yeah, it's why I didn't suggest it immediately. But if the OP wants an awesome house which should appreciate in value, that's different than a trendy uber-walkable area. A lot of the most walkable areas have **** housing (see Bloomfield, Upper Lawrenceville).

That was sort of our plan. Drive to each potential location and spend an hour exploring our neighborhood.

Right now the list is as follows:

Manchester
Deutschtown
Strip
Lawrenceville
Shadyside
Garfield
Bloomfield - haven't found anything in the area yet
Etna
I'd look in the East Liberty area as well. Does this do anything for you? It's a pretty good location - much closer to the East Liberty business district than most of the housing stock (about a 10-minute walk).

Yes. It is more at the "adult" end of South Side. Anything between 10th and say 18th is really where the partying takes place on the weekends, but even as far down as the Birmingham Bridge is pretty rowdy. Past that you get into a quieter bar area and a few more restaurants and other businesses.

That property will be under contract by the end of the week.

We are flying in today at 5pm. Can’t wait to start exploring. I will report back with initial thoughts on each area; maybe it will be helpful for someone else in their home search.

Also, holy hell is the airport far from downtown.

We don't have a lot of empty "flat" land laying around either.

Maybe you meant "20 miles"? 45-50 minutes is probably more typical at that hour.

Traffic not withstanding, it’s 20miles and 20min, other cities have worse traffic into their airports.
