Legume is good, simple, and should be the average fare. At a more average price.

Red Room is excellent. I know Kevin Sousa wants to push the boundaries, and when he finishes remodeling, he very well may, but I didn't think anything on the menu was too crazy yet. Certainly nothing on the level of El Cellar de Can Roca, or El Bulli (I presume). I hope Pittsburgh embraces his cuisine.

Ibiza is more of a fun place to eat than a good meal; there's something satisfying about ordering a two dozen dishes. The quality isn't the greatest, but it could be great fun to go for drinks and snacks.

Does anybody know if Pittsburgh has a restaurant like this one:
GYU-KAKU - Japanese BBQ Dining == We Kandou it! ==

It's a Japanese BBQ place where you cook your own food? That particular one is a chain only found in CA and NY right now. I was just wondering if there was anything similar in the Pittsburgh area?

What about a Mongolian BBQ restaurant? It's a create your own stir fry kinda thing. Anybody know something similar? Thanks for your help

There are some Korean BBQs, but I don't know of any Japanese. No Mongolian that I know of.

I want to take my boyfriend to a really good Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh for his birthday at the end of the month. He loves Italian food. I'm willing to spend a decent amount of money, but nothing TOO outrageous. I want to go somewhere that we've never tried before - romantic atmosphere is preferred.

Any recommendations?

Well, obviously we don't know what you have tried before. But we love Alexander's on Liberty Avenue--it has great food, reasonable prices, and a nice atmosphere (not necessarily super-romantic, but reasonably classy, quiet, and intimate, which I find romantic enough).

I'm not real sure about the romantic atmosphere of these places but here are some recommendations anyway:

Abruzzi's...they used to have a location in the West by Robinson but they closed it and now they have one on S 10th Street in the South Side (off the 10th street bridge next to the Holiday Inn Express). I haven't been to that location but the one near Robinson used to be really good and not too expensive at all.

Lidia's in the Strip District...have never been there but have heard good things. She has a cooking show and many books. Her other restaurant is in NYC and I think there's another location. http://www.lidias-pittsburgh.com/

Tambellini's Downtown is also very good...
F. Tambellini's Ristorante - Welcome to Tambellini's Restaurant

Also I forgot Delallo's in the South Hills. Again, I've never been there to tell you what the atmosphere is like but I have a friend that has gone there quite often and says the food is excellent. They also have their own brands of Italian foods in local grocery stores so I'm sure it's probably worth a try if you're down that way.

There are lots of other Italian restaurants that meet your criteria... c'mon where are all the foodies at??

Some more possibilities:
Dish Osteria (South Side)
La Cucina Flegrea (Squirrel Hill)
Legends of the North Shore (North Side) --more casual and I think less expensive than the other two.
