I usually visit Phipps once or twice if I happen to decide to stay in the Pittsburgh area for the winter. I love it. Especially the large, multi-level room with the winding paths, rock wall, waterfall, etc. I'm not sure of the name of it though.

I only visit once or twice per winter though. Are there seasonal (winter) passes that can be purchased? Evening events perhaps? It's just such a nice place to spend time on a hellishly cold and gray day. Especially with the humidity levels.

You can get an annual membership. I just bought a dual membership for $70. The conservatory is my favorite place in Pittsburgh. Walking around at night during their Christmas show is magical.

We're going to visit next week. I ride home past there and it's beautiful right now in the dark. I bet it's fantastic in there after a cold, sunny winter day too.

Just join as a member. Then you can go as many times as you want. Annual membership costs maybe 3x the fee of one entry.

Same with the zoo. You break even after about 3 visits or so. I've been a member of each at one time or another.

And they're open late through mid-January, which is also when the winter light thing ends so go soon. Return on membership is a little better for dual (2 people, only 2.5x the adult admission fee for 2) than for individual (3.3x the adult admission fee for 1). Still, it's an annual pass for not that much really.

And sure, some events http://phipps.conservatory.org/exhib...nts/index.aspx
