Did anyone else read the news article that Kennywood is planning on being open in December this year for the first time in its history?

Not sure why they would open in December, but it is owned by a Spanish company now that also owns Idlewild Park. I always worry they will change the park too much or do something that isn't in the interest of the locals.

I think it's a neat idea and it's for a Christmas display that will include lights and holiday songs. It will be centered in the lagoon area and they will even have the Kangaroo, Paratrooper, Merry-go-Round, and some kiddie rides open. As a kid, I always wanted to go into Kennywood during the winter with snow on the ground.

Kennywood Park to begin Holiday Lights program

I think it's a great idea, and I'll be happy for another Thing We Can Do with out-of-town visitors during the holidays.

Hershey park has been doing this for several years, along with opening for Easter and Halloween. It is actually very enjoyable, smaller crowds and very reasonable admission fees.
Hope it works out for Kennywood

Why let it sit idle most of the winter when they can get some revenue doing this? I am all for it. We go to Oglebay every year and if this ends up being nice, we may have to make it a regular holiday stop with the kids.

Went to Oglebay once and felt Hartwood was actually better. Oglebay advertises more though.
