Anyone own one of these cameras , and if so what is your opinion. I just saw one today at Best Buy for $349.00 and was impressed with it's features.
Any other comparable brands in this price range?

Two words:

BUY IT.

Need further incentive?

Okay..

Okay....all of those were shot with my P80....

Now, to compare, here are shots from my Nikon D200...

So, my review: If my D200 were to quit on me, I'd have no problem picking up and using the P80 in its place. Only thing that did disappoint me: No RAW/NEF mode. No matter, the camera shoots outstanding images, its fast, lightweight, and gives me serious zoom power without lugging the D200 and a variety of lenses on short day trips. A great, no an outstanding walk around camera, and the price of $349, is 50 bucks less than I paid for it, only a couple months ago...

Again, two words: BUY IT!

Comparable brands in the price range???

Fuji S100fs,
Olympus SP-570 UZ

The Canon S5IS is also a great choice, but its 8 mp, with a 12 optical....not quite the juice of the Nikon, Fuji, or the Olympus, BUT, the true measure of the camera is its imagery, and how its features stack up, so the S5IS does NOT fall short, au contraire, its right up there.

The Fuji, is higher priced, as is the Olympus, but they both stack up with the features, the Canon is the one that is truly within the price range.

Before I buy anything I always read reviews in Amazon! Go to amazon.com and type in the model of the camera you are interested in. Click on the camera model you see, scroll down and read the customer reviews. I also got my best price at Amazon when I bought my Canon A630 and also was impressed by the reviews it got. I am ready for another one now....one with a built in stabilizer! Make sure the camera you purchase has that feature. Good luck!
