Where do you guys live where you have such exciting grasshoppers?!
LOL....West Coast of Florida. My mother couldn't believe it when she saw them. They are about three inches long, sometimes larger. They are really easy to photograph because unlike most grasshoppers they are extremely slow and mellow. That's because they can exude a foul secretion and as a result NOTHING eats them. I can walk right up and pick them up....they can't even hop very well. My yard is jam-packed with the things. Both these photos were taken right outside my kitchen window.
Thanks CrowGirl! Fantastic shots!
They really are beautiful as adults. Love their coloring. I haven't been lucky enough to spot them in the yard yet. Plenty of crickets, but no grasshoppers.

You're welcome to some of mine.....saying I have about 200 of them would not be an exaggeration. I have to brush them off my baby oak tree sometimes because so many of them pile on it starts to droop
But seriously go back where you saw the nymphs in a few weeks. Only a few of mine are adults now but they'll all be molted in a couple of weeks and I'm sure they'll still be in the area where you saw the nymphs. They don't really travel that far. I'm sure some of them will pose for you!
