If you have the 8mm f/3.5, A-mount, it will work on your A100. I have this lens on E-mount (8mm f/2.8) for my NEX. Assuming the former, you can put the lens on your A100, and select "Release w/o Lens" thru menu (I'm assuming this option, available in all Sony DSLR, DSLT and NEX cameras, is also on A100). You're set! You can shoot in ANY mode (including full automatic) of course you'd have to use manual aperture. And for that, just set f/5.6 and forget!
It is a fantastic lens, with 180-degree field of view. It is made by Samyang and branded under several names (including Rokinon). It uses pseudo stereographic projection (patented by Samyang), and has unique characteristics. Here are a few examples (mine is the smaller, built for NEX, version):
The second and third images have rectilinear correction applied for an ultra-wide view (Fisheye Hemi plug-in). With this lens, you can practically set f/5.6 in aperture priority and shoot. Mine goes to f/2.8 (E-mount version) but I use that only if shutter speed drops to 1/5s or so, handheld.
Here's the Sony NEX version on my camera:
