The 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 af-s dx ed or the 12-24 f/4g af-s dx if-ed?

We are going to yellowstone in a few weeks and I can't decide between the two. Thanks for any help!

Thats what I was thinking but someone else was trying to talk me into the 12-24 so I wanted second opinions. Thanks so much!

Check out the Tokina UWA lenses. I shoot Canon but I recently picked up the 11-16f2.8 and I love it.

I've found the camera manufacturers show no real love to the UWA crowd. The Tokina products are built like a tank and quite good...better than the other stuff I've seen.

You can also check out the Sigma UWA lenses. Very good but I feel Tokina makes a better product (slightly).

I will second Tokina 11-16/2.8. It will be the one if I were to pick an UWA zoom for my Sony A55.

This is a very nice lens. I use it on a couple of Canon cameras.

Tokina just announced a new version of their 11-16mm f/2.8 lens, labeled the "AT-X 116 PRO DX II". It uses an Internal Focus design, with a 9 blade diaphragm and has an aspherical element, a new coating, and what they call SD-M (Silent Drive-Module) that is the equivalent of Nikon's AF-S auto focus motor built into the lens. It will cover an APS-C size sensor, not a full frame sensor.

The Nikon version will ship in March, while the Canon version will not be available until July. Also, Tokina has a $40 mail-in rebate for the older 11-16mm f/2.8 lens.

Price is listed as 90,000 yen, but I don't know what that is in US dollars.

Hmm, that's interesting. About 3 months ago, Tokina jacked the prices on the 11-16 and the 12-24 (is it?) over night. I was wondering why and thought it was just the fact that there just aren't many UWA lenses available and they (arguably) make the best. But, with this announcement, that doesn't make sense.

btw, 90,000 yen is about $1160 so not cheap for sure. It would have to be one heckuva lens to get that kind of money for it. I'll pay that for L glass but not usually something like this...especially when their previous model is so darn good.

Tokina 11-16 DXII for Nikon $699.00:
Amazon.com: Tokina AT-X116PRDXN AT-X PRO DX 11-16mm Ultra-wide Angle Lens for Nikon: Camera & Photo

I have the DX Pro for Canon, and it's a superb little lens. Solidly build, and a great performer, so I can only assume that the DX II is a great lens.
