Never seen this before
But going by your hints, I would say it is a pencil sharpener ??

Ah, ha, is it an inkwell? I think that is an old fashioned ink pin that has a bib.

Or is it a nib sharpener. The nib for those who do not know is the felt part of a felt tip pin>

Sorry but everyone continues to be wrong. It’s used in the kitchen most homes don’t have one, but most homes never knew about them.

(I’ll let you guess a few more and then give you even a better hint)

I have a Qn. Does the pen have anything to do with it or have you just put it there for us to get an idea of the size ?

Sorry HappyGal,,, the pen was only there to help with the size, nothing enlarged nor reduced.

I found the old one that I had in the kitchen, however it’s not ½ red like the new one. As you can see it’s not much bigger then an egg. This is the last hint that I’m giving. It doesn't use batteries. And it's not a timer.

If it’s not guessed or you don’t know what it is soon,,,, I’ll have to explain ~ ?
