MaineWriter,

That pic was beautiful. Congrats. I am sure we are seeing the tip of the iceberg of your talent.

There is so much talent on CDF. I hope we have another contest.

My NEG comment is:

Too much time for voting. It was excrutiatingly long. Especially when you know your own pic doesn't stand a chance.

Thank you Alpha, for putting that together.

Congratulations Maine Writer, great shot and certainly a good representation of the season!
Thank you!! It was fun. This is the first time I've entered a contest. We didn't choose any of the trees in the photo but we did get a tree before it started to snow again. The snow in the picture is from one storm. It's more snow than we've had in the last two winters combined (they were warm and mild), and we've had a nor'easter and smaller snows since then. Today is the first day since I took that photo two weeks ago that the trees aren't weighted down with snow.

I entered a photo contest here this past summer for the first time and won, lol. This was fun, I see we all need to try a little harder. Thank you all for playing and putting this together.

Congrats, Maine writer! And really, congrats to all of you! The pics were all great! I finally voted on one, but it was a really, really tough choice between some of them!

I agree redbird, having 30 contestants in a poll is much too long and it makes the choices so much more difficult because they were all great in their own way.

Insipration of my entry: When I was little we used to always go downtown (Buffalo, NY) and see all of the great Christmas window displays. This year at work I was in charge of decorating the front window. I took my picture from the level of how all the little kids in the neighborhood see it. From that, making me feel like a kid again, I titled my picture The littlest wonders of Christmas time.

Anyways, I can't wait for Alpha to set up the next contest though.

FedupWNY and Redbird, What are your suggestions?

I don't know how we'd limit entries to under 40, since the poll is able to go to 40.

As far as length of time for voting, not everyone is on here daily like we are. So I wanted to give enough time that people could vote. Plus there were the links to the voting in my signature and at least one other moderators signature that hopefully drove some folks to the photo forum who had never been here before.

As a side note, the Admin has told me that they are working on a custom site to help with the photo contests and some of the 'bugs' most likely will be worked out there.

Feedback is the key.

I gotta say though, given the limitations put on us by the software that runs City-Data, I thought it went pretty smooth.

(I need to change the thread title though, or else someone will come through and post a new picture.)

Personally, I thought it was a winner for the first attempt I think, given the current size and daily growth of cd that forty entry limit per contest seems logical..Maybe in the future we can have a gold, silver and bronze winner (1st, 2nd and 3rd place)..I also think that 7-8 days is a reasonable amt of time for everyone to see and vote..I especially thank administration for their involvement and prize awards..
