My friends kids go to Tempe Prep and Chandler Prep. They really speak high about these two schools. What you think? I just need a consistent answer. I may put my kids on waiting list.

My son goes to Scottsdale Prep which just opened last fall. He will be going into the 9th grade in Aug. We have been VERY happy! I plan on my daughter going when she's in 6th grade. It wouldn't hurt to put your child on the list. The list can get very long and you might regret later that you didn't. You can always decline. I would also have your child 'shadow' along with a student so they can get an idea of whether or not they would be happy there. Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. What make you pleased with Prep school? Friendly teacher or high academic standard etc?

There are some other threads here about those schools. Some complimentary posts, some not.

I've heard great things about Tempe Prep, but I have also heard it's hard to get in. Some wait years and their kids are almost out of school by the time they get in. They could be exaggerating, I have never tried it myself.

"talk good"? I can see why you are so concerned about the quality of your children's education.

All Great Heart Academies are good if you can get in.

I love the small classes...the teachers are all so helpful. Almost all of them have "tutoring" hours after to school to help the students. Report cards are a dream....each teacher fills out a 1 page report that list all grades factored in for their final grade and their comments on how the student is doing and what areas they may need improvement. I also love that they have sports that any student can participate in. This is especially great for my non athletic son! He hasn't played baseball since the 3rd grade, but had an absolute blast this year even though he wasn't the greatest on the team! I also love that the parents are VERY involved. They are also very stict with dicipline....which is fine with me! My son forgot to wear his belt one day and had a 1/2 hour detention. Believe me, he never forgot to wear his belt again! I would say again....get on the waiting list now. It could be a long time before you get in. Then once your child is accepted they can "shadow" with a student before you make a final decision if this school is the right fit for your family. Good luck!
