I saw a new school on Gilbert Rd and Queen creek , the board says "Athlos traditional academy", The school is built in front of me in last 3-5 months.

Does anyone have Idea about this school, I didn't find much information about this school, My kid will start going to elementary school from next year.

So far the only BIG plus point of this school is that it's a Charter school.

Please suggest, thanks

Default Athlos comments in Sept 2011

The school started in August after one week of delay. The campus are new, but some areas have been completed such as gym, cafeteria, and the sport fields. The school made a mistake to start the contruction so late, April 2011. That caused mistrust and alot of cancelation from the parents after the initial registration. I hope this is a lesson learned for another new Athlos Campus. Below is my constructive inputs:
Like
- New Campus and easy to drop off kids. Not sure if more students next year
- CTA teaching methods: Saxon math and phonograms
- Before and after school program, Brainstree, is much better than the public school program, such as Kids Express.
- As good as CTA in term of teaching good manners
- Everyday PE program
- Nutrition program for Kids (more comments when the cafeteria opened)

Don't like:
- Flag ceremony everyday even under the sun for 90's degree. Monday or Friday is ok.
- Very inexpensive playground. small basketball court and less space than Ryan Elementary schhol. Playground sets are for preschoolers.
- The campus can not accomodate upto 8th grade students.

1st and 2nd grade. Both of my kids attended CTA Liberty last year and Rancho Solano private school in the preschool years. We like CTA Liberty, but the school is not on my way to work, so I had to move our kids. Athlos is accepting students from Kinder to 7th grade.

I understand Athlos follow CTA syllabus but Does Athlos have gifted/CATS program as well? Also, what is velocity performance? Does the school focus on sports?if yes, how good is the program. Looking for some immediate feedback...

No one replied back to my post 2 years back but still I enrolled my child to Kindergarten and now he will be going to 2nd grade from next month in same school.... We are very happy with everything so far ..Academics, Sports, Teachers, Infrastructure, Online system etc etc... Hopefully it stays like this ....

Yes, they do have Gifted program but there is no separate class for gifted program students.... the only difference is that they get 1 hour per week separately to do some challenging work.... hope this info helps.
